Bob Ferguson,
Kind of in the same Delima about tires for my just purchased 2022 Unlimited 4x, it has 275/55r/20 BFG Dualers, wanting something more aggressive and wider tread. Looks like I'm going to go with Nitto 305/50/20 recon grapplers, my tire guy and a little research says this would be a good fit with the width of rims we have. Any ideas or thoughts would be appricated.
are you going to lift or keep it stock?

285/70/18 is about 34”. Too much for no lift, and too little for the Mopar lift. It’s also a load range E tire, which will not help with the ride.

With the Mopar lift, if you keep your stock wheels, go with 35x12.50/18s. There are several on the market in load range C, which will give a softer ride than E rated tires.
Thanks!!

They should fit without a lift, but just barely at 33.2". If you go with that tire, make sure you get the 116S, SL rated version. Almost all 305/55R20 tires are load range E and F. Combine that with a 20" wheel and a short sidewall, and you better make appointments with you dentist and kidney doctor.

I don't know if there is a ride height difference between a 4Xe and other non Rubicon Wranglers. You may need a small spring spacer set to give you anther 3/4" - 1". You will know if you get any rubbing when you drive and turn. The quickest way to figure that out is to reverse it and turn the wheel full lock and listen for rubbing.

Since that tire is significantly wider than you current tire, you may find that the spare squishes the bump stops on the tailgate too hard. You can remedy that quickly by using one or two 1/2" grade 8 washers on each stud on the spare tire rack. Take them with you when you get the tires mounted and installed. Don't let the guy us his pocket knife in the tire bay carve off what he thinks is an appropriate amount of bump stop, or use an impact to tighten the lugs and force the tire to squish the bump stops and possibly dent your tailgate.

This is the version you will want. And at only 51 lbs that's very good, especially for a 20" tire.

This is a nice option too, at only 50 lbs. I have this tire in a 17" version, and I recommend it.

Since you already lied to yourself once, go ahead and get a set of 40s and let the other upgrades follow.

Be kind to yourself 😎

I know that doesn’t help with what tire to get. But maybe it’ll help with what stock tires look like with a decent lift. I’ve been contemplating MT BB AT in a 35. But I’m more of a pizza cutter tire size person myself. I have Dick cepek extreme country 35x12.5x15 on my 97 Silverado. And the 12.5 wide even in that truck are WIDE.

I'm in stock rubicon suspension. I went up 1 size in tire and then got a wider tire with a negative offset rim. I'm really happy with the look and performance of this set up.
