Hey! new member here!

I finally bought my first ever jeep in diciember 24' , a Sahara trim with the 2.0T (Not my daily driver) .... Im on the road 90% of the time and i told myself i wasn't going to lift or put big tires on it ... well that didn't last long haha , i just ordered the new mopar 2" bilstein lift at the dealer and about to buy some new tires. I want some opinions on what tires should i get , i really don't want to change the stock feeling that much, i know it will a little but want to keep it as stock as possible. Im basically doing it just for the looks, i don't go much on trails and never doing rock climbing with this jeep.

Ive read that a 35" tire is a must on this lift, but i think thats too much and will make my jeep "slower" or forced, + i think i will need to regear and idk if i want to get that much involved...

Will a set of 285/70/18 look good? I think that is a 33" tire...
Im keeping my stock 18" wheel as well.

Pics of your jeeps with lifts and tires are welcome!

Here is a pic of my jeep.

THANKS!!!

I think that size would be perfect.
I just bought Toyo Open Country AT3's 265/70/18.
This is no lift. I am very happy!
So the 285's would be great with the lift.

If you are going with the mopar 2” lift, 33’s are going to look small and you will still be looking to upsize. Sorry, it’s true. This particular lift is known to give more than a 2 inch lift, so you’ll want at least 35’s if you don’t want your Jeep to look like it skipped leg day. As far as regearing… yeah… down the slippery slope you go! 😈

Go with 17 inch wheels. More selections in sizes. I have Toyo Open Country AT3 at 285/70/17 (around 33 inch). They look and perform great, with 95% street use and light trail use. It is a standard Rubicon height, with tires and suspension. I hear the dealer mopar lift is more like a 3+ inch lift. So, I might go for a 35 inch tire. My Toyo tires blow the doors off the BFG tires I have had before.

I’m putting 285/70R18 on my Sahara on Tuesday. I made a post yesterday that you can keep an eye on and I’ll let everyone know how it turns out. The thread is titled Falken Wildpeak AT4W 285/70R18

285/70/18 is about 34”. Too much for no lift, and too little for the Mopar lift. It’s also a load range E tire, which will not help with the ride.

With the Mopar lift, if you keep your stock wheels, go with 35x12.50/18s. There are several on the market in load range C, which will give a softer ride than E rated tires.

If you go with that lift you’re going to want at least 35” tires. Regearing and installing a Tazer or Superchips Flashcal will keep it feeling stock. You could try a lighter weight 35” like the BFG KO2’s and see what that feels like first before committing

Reddit on the subject - someone with the same engine and gear ratio said 35” KO2’s work fine without the regear for what they do with the Jeep.

I also think Quadratec offers advice on the subject as well - might give them a call.

I second this.

Since you're going for looks and not offroading, I would give it a month or two and see how it goes. You have an automatic, so you should be able to get away with it.

BUT...you need to plan. IF...you decide you need/want to re-gear, set aside a couple thousand dollars

Agree on 35” tires. I gained about 3” on my Sahara (this is with steel bumpers and winch that I installed prior to the lift) with the 2” billstein lift and less than 35” tires looked weird. This is with KO2’s. Regearing is not a necessity, its a preference and I have not seen the need to do so yet.

Bob Ferguson,
Kind of in the same Delima about tires for my just purchased 2022 Unlimited 4x, it has 275/55r/20 BFG Dualers, wanting something more aggressive and wider tread. Looks like I'm going to go with Nitto 305/50/20 recon grapplers, my tire guy and a little research says this would be a good fit with the width of rims we have. Any ideas or thoughts would be appricated.

You’re gonna need 35’s. Mine came with 33’s and the factory 1.5” lift.(over Rubi). Too small, 35’s are about right. You will be well in excess of 1.5”. Keeping it to light C’s without regear would be beneficial…. 2c

Thanks for the response and pics! Looks awesome!

How is the ride quality with the 35" KO2 in your sahara? And how about getting up to 65mph and going down the freeway? feel lots of difference?
