Hi guys!

I currently have a 2012 Jeep Patriot, and will be buying my first "big girl" car - a 2023 Unlimited Sahara custom order (Sarge!). Since this is my first time buying a car, I could really use your pro-help getting the right price. I want to say thank you so much in advance because I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm trying to learn quickly!

When I price my build online it comes to $54,430. I did my research through the forum to find dealers in Austin, TX that have competitive pricing, and the first dealer (South Point Dodge - Austin) offered $51,458. First question, is this considered 5% below invoice or is this simply 5% below MSRP? I was excited that it was less than I saw online, but is this a good deal? Attached is their estimate.

For the build, I wanted remote start - but didn't include the cold weather option, however, they called me today to say that Jeep is requiring the cold weather group to get remote start on the 2023. Have you heard this? Not exactly a feature that is needed in Texas, but potentially worth it to remote start my car to cool it down!

I heard about the Thread Lightly discounts (which I am not sure if they will accept?), will be doing a trade-in of my Patriot, and I have a discount of $500 from my work benefits portal. The dealer said they could potentially come down a few hundred dollars if another dealer was able to compete with their price - so I am waiting to hear from others to help negotiate. Any other advice on how to negotiate the price down further?

You guys are the best - this forum has already helped me immensely.

Honestly if you are comfortable paying 50ish K for your Jeep, just get a number in your head you are willing to go with and negotiate from there. If you are constantly chasing the extra $100-500 off, you will always lose.

There will always be someone else that got a better deal. At the end of the day it won't matter, you will be happy with your Jeep if you dont dwell on someone else getting the same for a few hundred less. Just make sure you arent getting a total crap deal and go with it.

Email/call Gupton and get their quote. See if your dealer will match it within ~2%, which is approx. $1K.

If they do, great. If not, you can get up to Nashville and drive your Jeep home for ~$1K and you get a beautiful road trip to boot.

Cold Weather Pkge in Texas def seems useless but it's really nice - I use my seat heaters on long road trips also to give my back some relief.

Not sure if you're open to it, but you could save a few grand also by going with hard top + sunrider or dual tops instead of the Sky One Touch. Otherwise I think you've got a great package/build out there.

I opted for the cold weather package and I live in Texas. The heated seats are great for a sore back. The heated steering wheel was extremely nice during the ice storm earlier this year.

That's ~5% off MSRP. If I remember correctly that FFP listed is invoice (again, if I remember correctly).

You can get 1% below invoice by simply finding a dealership that honors Tread Lightly / affiliate discounts. The only Tread Lightly gotcha is that you have to pay your $100 30 days before you take delivery, but that's typically not an issue when ordering one.

Others have already mentioned some of the dealerships listed on the spreadsheet in my sig.

If she's in Texas, Mark Dodge on Louisiana is closer and offers similar pricing.
They got me a great price, so thank you! Any clue if most dealers price protect? Is there any way that upon delivery they could change the price? Just want to make sure before I go forward with a dealer outside of my area.

I think almost all dealers do. Ask them. I had no problems (though Jeep didn't raise prices during my wait). They gave me a signed order confirmation and that's what I paid on delivery.

Almost all do, but ask.
