JL SAHARA BUILD HELP!

Thanks everyone for the input and experience. I’m currently thinking the best options will be to start with a set of 33” KO2s on 17” rims and go from there.

Following the 33s I’m thinking the next group would be :
- Rock Rails
- Rubicon Shocks/Springs
- Metal Front Bumper

I’ll keep my eye out on these forums for any other similar builds or recommendations!

Rubicon suspension if you want 1" lift (might be slightly stiffer - there's no clear answer on stiffness between the two) or dystar 3/4" lift spacers.

I have both options to put on this summer, will see which I like better.

I think changing bumper and grill inincetts from silver to charcoal grey (Rubicon spec) makes it more aggressive. Rubicon wheels/tires are usually overpriced, might able to something aftermarket that looks better and close to same price.

My Sahara still sits on stock suspension.

Do you have the product codes for the grill and bumper inserts?

With the 33" KO2s I would be considering the Rubicon Shocks/Springs for the 0.75"-1" lift providing slightly better ground clearance.

Is there anything to consider adding in addition to the Rubi Shocks/Spings? Will I need to upgrade any additional parts that might break due to this upgrade (control arms, sway bar links, track arms, bumps stops, etc. ). I’m definitely far from a mechanic and don’t want this swap and have something break and hear about it from JEEP.... What’s the safest option?

No, you’re good. You have a D44 in the rear; that can easily handle 35-inch tires.

Thanks! I've seen a few marketplace posts selling a bunch of other random pieces (control arms/ track arms), and just wanted to confirm that all I need to locate are a pair of rubicon shocks/suspension off a JL hardtop, steel bumper, tow kit if possible.

This is the first car I've owned where I would ever consider making modifications to things under the vehicle such as shocks/suspension and don't want to get caught in a bad position by not doing my research. That's why I was asking about Rubi takeoffs vs spacers vs full lift kit. Appreciate your continued help.

Hmmm...well...I think it matters if the Rubicon is a 2.0T, 3.6 V6 or Diesel.

It has something to do with the spring rates being different for vehicles of different weight.

When I got the Mopar lift, the dealer needed my powertrain configuration to search his inventory. Different engine JLs use lifts with different part numbers.

Whether the Rubicon has a hardtop or a steel bumper I think is immaterial.

Where did you get the charcoal grey bumper and grill incerts? I've been looking around for these.

Quadratec sells black bumper trim

They will be back, not charcoal when new.

I had a set of 275/70R18 (33.2 inches) KO2s on my stock Sahara rims. It is the perfect size IMO.

How is the ride? I believe these are 'E' rated tires.

I am pleased with the Rubi take off 33s and K02. I think I could do a small lift to balance it out. Bumper and winch next.

Love the look! I'm thinking along the same lines. Potentially looking for ~1" lift with RUBICON takeoffs.
