I can tell you exactly what happened. He hooked up the coolant pressure tester, pumped it up to 20 psi, and checked for leaks. Nothing leaked. You kept bugging him and he wanted you gone. No leak found, the cap is not testable. Replace the cap if desired.
He could not pump it up. He tried various fittings on the mouth of the bottle, none worked. He TOLD me he couldn't do it. That is exactly what happened.

Coolant is disappearing and no leaks, sounds like a head gasket or cracked head/block issue to me.
I'm going to bring it to my mechanic for diagnostics and pay put of pocket then make THEM fix it. Worth it for peace of mind

I bought it used 2 weeks ago. It's under warranty but the dealer is being evasive now.
The Jeep may be eligible under the 5 year 60,000 mile power train warranty. Don't go back to the used car dealer.

when you want to flush air from a coolant system, you open the heat control to full open to circulate fluid through the core.
No, you have been told this. It isn't true. You turn the heater on so that you as the operator know that the heater works.

Great, so he didn't have the particular adapter for this cap? Take this thing to an actual Jeep dealership.

"may be" is the operative phrase here, if/when they find the radiator leaking it will not be covered and she'll be on the hook for diagnosis at least.

Take it to a different dealer. Even if you have to take a day off from work it will be worth to have a different dealer opinion. Going through a half gallon of coolant in one day is a lot. They would know exactly where to look. They did on mine.

I never owned a car where the coolant had to be checked on a regular basis. This is bullshit.
It is actually a good idea to check the coolant, oil and brake fluid on a regular basis. Quite often, some level of damage has already been done by the time symptoms appear. My mechanic friends recommend checking each time you fill up the gas tank.

No need for sarcasm. I'm learning through this forum.
Don't take these things personally. That is how we roll on this forum. We don't take things seriously. Just a little humor here and there.

I would recommend letting a trusted mechanic take a look at this as soon as possible. Not to fix the issue but to let you know what is going on.

Do not delay. You don't want the vehicle to overheat. If the gasket has already been damaged, you don't want the damage to spread to other components.

Please keep us updated on the issue.

Bringing to my mechanic on Saturday although it's under warranty. Their garage did nothing for me.

What is your resistance to taking it to a factory-authorized Jeep dealership so it can be potentially covered under warranty?

If anything, I think you may have discovered the reason why the vehicle was traded in to a used car dealership....

I have a 300 deductible on my extended warranty. I trust my mechanic more than i do a dealership. If the problem turns out to be major going to contact the NY Attorney General and try to get a refund. It's only been 2 weeks.

The manufacturer's 5 year, 60k, no-deductible powertrain warranty should apply if the cause is a warranty issue.

The difference is, "your mechanic" won't do the work for free.

Yes but first I have to find our if it's a warranty issue.

If it needs a head gasket or a new engine I'm going to legally force the dealer to take it back
