One more regret of 2020 I think was starting this conversation. The 70 mph was to just make a point, should have been 55. My fault. Lesson learned. Thanks to many of you for useful information, and too all of you, Happy Christmahanakwanzika !! :)
Nope, it was a completely valid question. Another scenario would be coming off of a trail and onto an interstate without remembering that you're in 4H. I've had your same concern after going well over 80 for quite a while like that.

I accidentally pulled off a trail onto the freeway in 4 lo, about 55mph I realized I was in low range and pulled over. That was about 10k miles ago, so I don't think it caused any damage.

55mph in 4 low? Damn. I'm guessing that you have an automatic. It must have been screaming.

It's amazing how fast you can go in 4lo with that 8 spd trans. But should you? Uhoh, feel another thread coming on.

Accelerating hard onto the highway, as the trail is literally adjacent at that location. Going from dirt onto a downhill stretch of 8 lane highway with a 70mph speed limit of course I was on the throttle. At 55mph rpms were around 5,300. It not shifting around 5k when under hard acceleration like normal is when I realized it was still in low. Redline isn't until 6k and I think there's a Rev limiter at 5,500.

Makes perfect sense (with an auto). Definitely "screaming" for a Jeep. Not quite starting to breathe for my other car with an 8.25k redline ;)

Not intended to spoil all the fun in 4Lo - but FCA states:

1 Do not exceed 25 mph

2 Hard-surfaced roads will cause increased tire wear and damage to the driveline components

3 Take care not to overspeed the engine

We stay pretty much to this in 4Lo - but 2Hi we let the V6 stretch out as the auto shifts just below redline. Actually has decent pull right to the very top end.

EDIT: Yeah was more about 55 in 4Lo just might affect a warranty related issue if something went amiss. Of course any owner can do what they want with their JLs. FYI is all.

Engine rpms are engine rpms, be it 1st gear in high range or 8th gear in low range. The 4-1 gear set is susceptible to pulling/ heating issues if run at high speed for long periods. Blanket statements are made in order to remove all judgement calls that may or may not cause issues. Apply logic to their blanket statement on hard surfaced roads, lo range is safe on moab slickrock, that has better traction than pavement, but will cause driveline damage the second you hit pavement? If you drive at high speed, for prolonged periods sure. If you drive 500' down the road from fins & things to hells revenge at 30 mph in 4 lo you'll be just fine. Of course I'm also the guy who's first mod was a Tazer so I can use my lockers and sway bar disconnect whenever I see fit. FCA wouldn't recommend it, but say bar disconnected and rear dif locked, in 2wd, sideways in the desert is a blast and I 100% would recommend it. Those electronic nannies and recommendations are there for liability more than anything else.

The 2021 Rubicon JLU is available with standard 4WD (part-time 4-wheel drive), and optional Selectrac AWD (full time all wheel drive). There is a HUGE difference between the two. Which do you have?

If I happen to see anyone pass me doing 70 in a snowstorm and we happen to meet at a gas station, it might be cause for an open handed slap. 4wd/ Awd is meaningless at those speeds, in a snowstorm period end of story.

I think everyone that has ever owned a 4wd vehicle has gone from the dirt to pavement in 4wd and forgot until down the road a ways. My old 08 pickup had a "Barbie" style twist knob on the dash that was blocked from view behind the steering wheel and no other indicator. I drove it halfway home from Arizona in 4Hi once.
