2025 Willys Wrangler 4 door, stock height. Going from stock wheels with 33s (LT285/70R17 Falken Wildpeak M/T) to 35s and there are so many tire/wheel choices. Been reading many reviews, I've had BFG KO2s in 33x12.50x15 (great onroad and offroad, just mind the sidewalls) and Super Swamper TSL/SXs 36x12.50x15 (awesome off road and the sidewalls didn't care!) but onroad not so much. Thinking about Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs after much research but there are several sizes that get to the 35" diameter range, then there are the load ranges and widths.

I like the look of my stock Willys wheels but they are 7.5" wide and 44 offset (6" backspacing from chart I saw) so I've read (wish they'd just stuck with backspacing as it requires no calculation based on width.) Think I'd like little more poke than stock but without wheel spacers, the outer edge of tires is about flush with outer edge of fenders...maybe this is good for now, try wheeling it more first.

Saw couple Jeeps with Mickey Thompson Canyon Pro wheels, one satin black and another in polished aluminum, hot looking wheels! Also looked at Methods and Icon wheels, Bead Grips are interesting but never needed beadlocks as always ran 12.50 wide tires on 8.0" steel white spoke rims, aired down to 12psi without problems, although did get weeds and some dirt between rim and tire on very rare occasion.

Mickey Thompson Canyon Pro Satin Black Wheels 17x9 looks awesome but is too wide imo for pizza cutters.

255/85R17 which is load range E. recommended rim width 6.5-8.0.
35x12.50R17LT load range D, recommended rim width 8.0-11.0.
LT315-70R17 (35x12.50/17LT) recommended rim width 8.0-11.0.

Any other 35" tires to consider? Wheel brands and sizes?

EDIT: My home trail's the Rubicon, Fordyce is close too and been running them for many years. Also hope to do Dusy-Ershim, Moab and maybe some Colorado trails in the next couple years.

Ignore “recommended” 7.5” - 11.5” wheels are “Standard Guideline” for mounting 35/12.50/R17. Tire recommendations are like a- , well everyone has one. I don’t run sharp rocks or cactus so I run a light C load. 59 lb Toyo AT3 35/12.50. The MT BB are a favorite but ~10 lbs heavier, KO2’s ~ 5 lbs heavier and I prefer the Toyo’s to the KO2’s they replaced. Some like Falkens, but I dismissed them due to ~16 lbs heavier. GY Wrangler was lighter but not 3 peak.

25 is wide axles Rubi flares ? If so 35/12.50’s tread will be ~ even with the fenders on stock wheels, ~ even with XR extensions with ~ 0 offset.

this old guy with back issues has to lift the spare too. Those 35’s and 21 lb 8.5” -1 mm forged wheel combo is 80 lbs, 2 lbs less than the stock 7.5” beadlock capable and 285/70 KO2’s. 👍

if you like Pizza cutters (some do some don't)hard to beat the Mickey 255/85-17 on stock wheels..add some 1" BORA spacers which are high quality and the thinnest spacer you can use without trimming the stock lugs..properly aired down they are a great tire on and offroad...lots of good 35's out there for sure..if you want a little more aggressive but still a nice riding tire the mickey thompson baja boss MT is a great tire....
I know people will tell you the E rated 255/85-17 will ride rough but I have not found that to be the case nor have the people who actually are running it..

I'm in the same boat, thinking of going 285-75-17 (34") or more likely 35 x 11.5, keeping stock height and wheels. Although I love her as she sits so might just stick with 33's... I see the old TJ's running around and tend to appreciate those that are still stock...if it ain't broke...

22' JLUD here, Stock suspention & wheels.

I put on a set of falken wildpeak AT4w 35x11.5 on the stock willys rims, no major issues so far. Needed a reloaction bracket for the spare. i still have to do testing with full articulation removing my sway bars but i havent wanted to go lie on the ground for 4 hours in -20 degree concrete.

Tires have been great in the snow, better on fuel milage, and significantly quieter... also theyre the cheapest A/T 35s i saw online for 17 inch rims so theres that.

I had 35s on 18” Fuel wheels on my last JLU. They were 117 lbs of love that I regretted buying off of CL.

35” KO3s on 0-offset KMC Terra’s is a pretty sexy looking combination. I may be biased because it’s what I run on my daily… But when I saw them at the local Jeep dealer on a floor-model Wrangler, my heart plain caught fire.

Kinda what I was thinking, thanks for confirmation on rim width guidelines.

Yes, 2025 Willys axles are wider than previous years same as the Rubicon M210 front and M220 rear and the HighLine fenders.

I'm not as spry as I used to be either, exercise but getting old isn't always as fun as it could be, weight is always a consideration.

That looks great! RUbicon no, lift and the 1" spacers? Looks like you gutted your inner fenders, did you need to? How low do you usually air down to and got any pics of the tires flexing/squishing?

12.50’s on the stock 7.5” did increase crowning. The 8.5’s do not. My chosen wheels only come in 8.5” -1 mm and it is a sweet spot for them. 9” would be heavier anyway and I wouldn’t have spent the money to just go 1/2” to 8” wheels. XR extensions were $75 thru All Mopar Parts, get the rivets to replace the original ones plus 1 extra hole per flare needed.

@2nd 392 Great info and pics, IME 8" rims do crown 12.50" wide tires a bit but not terrible...think 7.5" is pushing it too much though. My stock Willys wheels with the Falken 285/70R17 (33s) stick out almost as much as in your stock with 12.50s pic. What are your chosen wheels, got a side pic please?

OK- but I can’t endorse them yet, the center caps are promised for January, but I’ve heard similar many times. Great otherwise.

2.5 AEV lift fenders are not gutted. ~12 psi off-road. I really don't have a lot of photos in action but they work very well.

I went from the stock rims to the Method bead grip wheels with the factory Falken WildPeak MTs. I enjoyed the wider stance from the rims and the ability to run lower air pressure without bead locks. I had great luck with the Falkens. They handled hurricane rain and several Midwest winters without missing a bit. They never got louder and did great in the dirt as well. I finally jumped to the 35 inch MT BB ATs (D load) and I love them. They have been great in all conditions and they let look awesome. I catch people walking up to them all the time. Lots of people on this site have many miles on the MTs and not many complaints. I had the KO2s on my las Jeep and they were lacking in the rain and in the snow. My wife preferred the almost bald factory tires to the KO2s. Just our experience, others have had better experiences.

Good luck!

Keep Jeep’n

After much research, question asking and thinking I'm settling in on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs 35x12.50R17 LT 119Q D2 tires on MT Canyon Pro Black wheels in 17x9", set of five for proper rotation and a trail spare. Thoughts on this please?

I'm not familiar with those wheels but I think you're going to love those tires, great choice my friend. 🫵
