Jeep Wrangler JL Fobless key 6E398EAA-2C21-4DFB-8854-0AF50A694C9E

I was able to find this key and get it cut at Kleppers in York, PA for $23. At first, they didn’t think they could help me because they had nothing for the JL in their computer. After some hunting, they found they had the blank in stock classified under Fiat.

@Jeep32

Many of us have had similar Fiat key blanks cut for our JL's. I had my first one cut in 2018.

I have moved on though, so to speak. I now have my @Threedom "Weatherproof Sport Key. This key, incorporates the factory key and the necessary RFID chip.

With this Weatherproof Sport Key, I can open the JL, start it up and drive it. Can't do that with a plain jane Fiat key like I used to have and you have pictured. Times are changing for the better!

One of 2 designs that will be offered by Threedom

Can you show a picture of the RFID pocket?

@roaniecowpony

Here are 3 poor pics of the tire design one I just took. The RFID chip slides in one opening and then when you insert the end of the key into it's opening, it secures the RFID chip in place... Once the chip is inserted, the end of it blends right in nicely with the tire..

With the 2 dr. Jeep design holder the RFID inserts in the tail gate area.
As you know, the RFID chip itself is sealed in a watertight coating...

I was just looking for something to help me get into the Jeep if I lock myself out. Planning on hiding the key on the Jeep so I’m never stuck. Was happy to be able to get the key and get it it cut all in one stop for under $25.

The key will get you in, if you lock the FOB in the vehicle (can that actually happen?), but you won't be able to start it without the FOB or RFID. So, no help if you misplaced/lost the key while away from home. Since I have a spare RFID chip and hard key (FOB battery leaked and trashed the circuitboard), I'm going to make up one of these for the emergency key to get me out of a jamb while out n about.

I have manual locks and windows, but still have push button start. Unlike most who probably never need to take their fob out of their pockets, I’ll take my key out to open the door and then find that I’ll throw them in the cup holder or on the seat. Then when I get out, I’ll manually lock my door and forget to put my keys back in my pocket. In 99% of my situations, my fob is locked in the Jeep.

The RFID key sounds like a nice option for you all, but the simple valet key will work great for my situation.

Does your's have a remote start? If not, it would seem that there is no need for the fob, other than to house the RFID chip? If that were the case, you should be able to ditch the massive FOB for one of the key holders with the chip holder. No more battery and just a small key to carry. But you'd have to push the start button with the chip end of the key.

It’s a manual transmission, no remote start. Yes, I could ditch my fobs for one of these keys, but there is nothing wrong with the two fobs I have. Was just looking for a cheap option to unlock my Jeep in a pinch and the valet key fit the bill. Thanks for your comments.
