It really depends on how often you use the air though.I don't think anyone system is better than the other, its just each individuals preference. As long as you got air, that's all that matters. Our last trip to moab, We were told by one of the Outfitters that you can Air down to 18-20 lbs and drive on it all week in the vacinity of Moab and all the trails as long as you don't exceed 60mph.
I don’t typically go to MOAB or anywhere where I’d be aired down for an extended period of time.
So the connection I draw with Co2 is time. I typically air down (15psi) now-a-days to run the beaches which I do often, very often. Which means once I’m done I need to air up that day like within minutes. Now it’s usually not hard to find an air station down the road which typically costs a whopping $1.50 and takes awhile so I end up spending roughly $4.50-$5.00+.
With Co2 running 285/70/R17’s (33’s) I can air up from 15psi to 30psi in just over a minute and a half all (4) tires. That’s 27 seconds a tire and out of a 15gal tank I would be able to accomplish that 33 times before needing a refill.
Air compressor are convenient in the since that they can be cheaper and they do not require refills.
But if you’re off-roading a lot or live somewhere where you’re on and off the trails on a whim day to day or often Co2 is a Wheelin necessity because it is so quick.
While I may end up with an air compressor temporarily the end game for me is Co2.
