Todsy ALL diesel engines are manufactured with emissions equipment and def. Commercial, recreational, as well as everyday commuters. In every state throughout the United States. It's mandated. It's the people who vote in volatile leaders like our current that assure this will never change. You will have less control of what you choose to drive and they will have more control of your limited choices

If I were to do a swap, I would put in a BMW M57 3.0L inline 6 diesel. They are very stout and known for handling lots of power on stock internals. They also have a CP3 pump instead of a CP4. There are quit a few M57 swaps into European off roaders. I had one a long time ago and I am still kicking myself for selling it.

UNKILLABLE DIESELS: BMW’S M57 I-6

Currently have a tuned and deleted BMW N47 2.0L inline 4 diesel. Makes about 225 hp and 375 lb-ft at the wheels according to the dynos others have posted with with the same tune. At one point in time, I was seriously thinking about swapping that into my old 2014 Rubicon, but I doubt it would get the 45+ mpg at the end of every tank like it does in my BMW. If it wasn't for my 40+ mile commute, I would have probably done it or at least attempted it.

adjective. /ˈvɒlətaɪl/ /ˈvɑːlətl/ (often disapproving) (of a person or their moods) changing easily from one mood to another. a highly volatile personality.

I'd call him a lot of things, but volatile is not on the list. Perhaps you were thinking of someone else. :)

My biggest issue would be getting all the ancillary crap to blend in, like the data in the off-road pages etc. I personally would want the swap to look, feel and act just like factory, but getting all the PCM, BCM etc. crap to talk would be the issue.

Just throwing out ideas...

Behavioral symptoms like moodiness, apathy, changes in personality,, behaviors and language difficulty can be part of the disease. Behavior and personality often change with dementia. "volatile" Might not be spot on but the underlying cause is definitely visible.

I'm not crazy about him either, but he was the lesser of two evils. :)

Moodiness and apathy are way more in alignment with that other guy.

3.0L duramax would be a cool swap, that seems to be a great little engine.
straight 6 is where its at!!

The days of emissions deletes are slowly coming to a close IMO.

I'm not sure what the goal is here. Replace the existing diesel with another engine and you'll have to have the emissions stuff on the new engine for it to pass inspection, right?

If emissions / inspections aren't a concern then it seems like going through one of the Canadian companies that do deletes might make more sense.

Yah none of this makes much sense...but if I am using someone elses fantasy dollars... IF it was a more desirable engine like a Dmax or Cummins then the efforts may be worth it vs. deleting an EcoD.

Yep, a bit weird. I would think that swapping out for something like a Demon would make more sense. Unless, of course, the person doing the swap loves those challenges.
