Thank you for your service and sacrifice and nothing is better than watching your kids. I love offroading in Iconic places but I think because I am old fat drunk I get my biggest inner peace on long solo bicycle rides and long fast power hikes in areas that don't see many people. got up and did this this morning with another buddy who is also old and fat but does not drink and I am still on my endorphin buzz. I am lucky I live in a place where in 10-20 minutes I can be pretty much in my own space above it all. Buddy and I were talking today and we have both had friends that are our age and have recently tipped over....sometimes you wonder how much longer we will be getting our 16 mile hikes in..our wive's think we are nuts and we both blame Jeff (we are both jeffs)

Appreciate your openness about the challenges you and your compadres have faced. I have numerous folks who work for me now, and others I have known throughout my career, who have/have had similar PTSD issues. While I don't know each individual's story behind that state, the common theme amongst all is to find something that takes your mind off it. A Jeep with top off (and doors, which I still haven't done yet) in a beautiful setting with the tunes going is one of the most fun/Zen places to be. It just is. Thank you for your service, and keep on Jeepin'! 👍 🍻

VA rated PTSD here, I get what you're saying.

The Jeep opened up, my motorcycle on a lonely road, taking the boat out on a weekday with no one around, the beach on a winter weekday. Any place I can find peace with no crowds or chaos.

Yep, the same feeling that I use to get when riding Harly's. Open air, without a care in the world!

Yes, I do. The day I saw my Jeep for sale, to later that evening when I drove it home, I was on cloud 9. That's been over 6 months ago, and I still smile when I drive it. I talk to "her", thank her, etc.

Some may think it's a mental issue, but this is the only vehicle that truly brings me joy.

Glad it helps you feel better and keep calm. It can be hard finding that sweet spot when you know what lies on the other side of that dark place.

I never served, but have friends that have. They both bought 1941 Jeeps, that they absolutely enjoy driving and wrenching. They were not overly supportive when I bought my Rubicon, until during the winter I was invited to join them for a coffee run. They pulled out of the garage said sh<t it's cold and piled into my Jeep, one turning on the heated leather front passenger seat. After a road trip pulling our bikes my one buddy said he really likes Jeeps. Having a 1941 in the start up display and on the shift knob amused both. As mentioned I did not serve, but have buddies that did, all find peace with their Jeeps and motorcycles. I am now retired and as you, found my happy place with open air cruising with my factory Alpine thumping, only thing better is towing our bikes and riding from a cool place.

Hang in there, life is good, enjoy the little things, like freedom and family, you deserve it! :)

I find joy in just thinking about driving the Jeep!

When we need to drive anywhere I tell my wife -
"we should take the Jeep, it's like a vacation"

Evenings with nothing better to do, we like to just go for a drive.

Love that this simple thing brings so much joy, comfort, and relief!

Thanks to OP, and all veterans, for your service and sacrifice!!!

Absolutely. I can't tell you how much riding with the doors and top off, good tunes, and a warm summer day clears and centers my mind. It's one of the few times that my brain isn't running 100K MPH with thoughts. I love it.

Agree fully 👍.

Running topless and doorless just makes things better (except in a hail storm 😂). Mundane tasks like going to the grocery store are just more relaxing and fun. I am less road ragey sitting in stop and go traffic on my daily commute.

Can't speak directly to the PTSD part of things but glad the Jeep helps. Find and do all the little things you can do to be happy and enjoy daily life. I have great respect and honor to all that allow us to live these lives and will try to make the best of it. Thank You.
