If you have a JL Rubicon and you have an axel or locker issues you're going to be sitting for a while. On the repair forum I posted that my locker had failed and there are no spare lockers or axel assemblies. You can call Jeep Waves and you can ask your dealer to reach out to the local Rep from Jeep but no one will lift a finger to get you a part from the assembly line. I can't believe that the parts planners a Jeep don't care enough to have parts on hand before selling us jeeps. I'm not in the 30 day window for the lemon law so thats out for right now. So if your JL breaks... chances are you're SOL... so if you're thinking about buying a new JL you should talk to the parts department before talking to the sales department.

I can't imagine your pain, and I would seek out other options.

You can refuse to drive the jeep and leave it at the dealer. It is unsafe to drive with a broken locker and you can refuse to take it back, and if your lemon law is 30 continuous days at the dealer, they are SOL.

How is it unsafe to drive with a broken locker? Maybe I missed this in OP post, but is the locker permanently engaged? If not, you just have an open diff.

Nothing in the OPs post would lead anyone into believing the axle is broke to where it couldn’t be driven. Only the locker not being able to engage.... but if it is and won’t disengage, that’s another story.

I feel your pain. I have been waiting over a month now for my new grill (current white is turning yellow), new rear window that flaps in the breeze, new tailgate bar and new tailgate clips to hold new back window in. Those parts aren't available either. No ETA in sight according to dealer. Jeep wave never answers when they will be available. They only state they will have a parts specialist contact me. That was over two weeks ago.

In his thread in the other section, he mentioned that it's making noises, at which point, something may go wrong, it may lock up unexpectedly, shatter into a bunch of pieces killing his ring gear and pinion, etc. It's not just that it refuses to engage, I believe he said it was making weird noises.

Dude that really sucks. The issue is likely at the supplier. With the demand that there has been with new JL I'm sure the supplier is absolutely crushed just trying to meet the demands of the assembly line. The simple answer would be to add production capacity at the supplier but that isn't necessarily a simple thing to do.

Early adopters (aka beta testers) always get screwed. Sorry to hear about your dilemma.

Is the locker made by Dana or another supplier?

Unfortunately things like this happen early in production. I love my JL, but were I about to do a worldwide overland trip, I would have gotten a jk just for the parts availability. This is a problem that will fix itself in time, but that doesn’t help your situation.
My advice is to stay on your dealers butt, the FCA rep, Jeep Cares, and anyone else you can think of. Who’s the actual manufacturer of the locker Jeep is using? Maybe that company has someone that can help.
On this forum I’ve seen similar parts issues, and once they found the right person to expedite, they got resolved fairly quickly. It’s not like the factory has locker parts just sitting there. They get complete axel assemblies from there source to bolt in. Maybe if you raised enough stink, that’s what they should do...replace hub to hub.

I had a similar issue with my 2015 UK manual transmission went out at 700 miles, they told me it will be 12 weeks to get a part.
I actually called the Molar and opened a case and they were able to get it for me in 2 weeks.
You can always tell them to get from Assembly plant but that will be hard.
