Then screw’em. Everybody in New Jersey should drive the five minutes required to shop in another state. Okay, I know the traffic is terrible and it’s not really five minutes, but the states out there are comparatively small. We drove from Portland, Maine to the middle of Pennsylvania in less time than it takes to cross Oregon, so it can’t require much effort for New Jersey folks to buy out of state.

As an aside, years ago, when my kids were looking at schools out east, we drove through New Jersey on a beautiful summer day. We had a total of about four hours of driving time in New Jersey. In that time we saw a woman run off the road because she was trying to pass, there was oncoming traffic, and other motorists would not let her back in line. We also got screamed at and flipped off three times, and honked at several times, for such things as stopping at stop signs, yielding to another car with right of way, and only going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. we’d never seen anything like it. Still haven’t. Our trip continued through New York City and up through New England, but we never experienced anything like New Jersey anywhere else. For rest of our trip after New Jersey our teenage sons let out a “Homer Simpson scream” every time they saw a New Jersey license plate. I can’t understand how a group of people that quick to anger would tolerate getting ritually spanked by their local Jeep dealers. :swear::LOL:
Please don't sugar-coat it next time, tell us how you really feel about my state, lol... I can say one thing--since I bought my Wrangler, now people wave at me instead of flipping me off! It's really quite nice!

I mean sure, I'll get the occasional middle finger after I lightly honk at someone who doesn't move at a stop-light after 5 seconds, or after someone has the courtesy to cut me off (and then give me the finger), but I get like 5-10 waves a day now.

To the OP, definitely go through one of the known dealers on here, or one of the brokers on leasehackr. No reason to really deal with the NJ dealers who are simply not willing to deal right now, and pay more for no good reason. Good luck.

High pressure dealers, hate them. When you see staff wearing suits, it isn't to look "professional" it's part of the intimidation process. To look like a boss to average people. I HATE DEALERS.
When I have a day that I'm just really bored and I don't feel like doing any "honey-do's", I visit these dealers and troll their salespeople. It is very entertaining to waste their time as I look at new vehicles.

So, to answer the question originally asked, on the Jeep configurator here are the willys sport vs the willys. THe differences are on line 2: 74G vs 74E,
and line 3: 2TK vs 2TW, PDN vs PGG, TTK vs TTP, and 23K vs 23W

2_K is Willys Sport, 2_W is willys - in this case you have a "5" instead of a T. Not sure why. Almost certainly does not matter.

So 25W is the Willys (not willys sport) quick order code.

PDN vs PGG is Sting Grey vs Sarge Green paint color.

TTK vs TTP is tires

And 23K vs 23W is the Willys Sport vs Willys 3.6 ESS engine code. But you upgraded to ETorque - ERG.

So yeah, you're showing a Willys, and not a Willys sport, build sheet here.

Code:
Willys Sport 37.6k

Pardon my ignorance with this, but how do I know if I'm getting the upgrade axles, etc that come on a Willy's? It seem alike there is a sport with an appearance package as well as an actual Willy's? Hopefully I'm being paranoid ;)
That is how the Build is, starts with a wrangler sport and then it adds Willys, when that is added , it automatically adds all Standard Willys Options.

I built a Willy for about 50K. Ordered it. I had second thoughts and canceled it and ordered a Rubicon for 55K. Dealer didnt take deposit. They'll sell it anyway these days as none are on the lot. PLEASE do yourself a favor and rethink the Willy. I was in your shoes also. With the Rubicon you get: 33s (best in class tire). highline flares/Dana 44 front/rear/lockers/disconnect sway/8.4" stereo Alpine Premieum. 4.1 gear ratio/awesome vented hood/upgraded interior/higher resale. Lots of people buy second/3rd hand rubicons to smash the trail with. A few buy new ones. A willy is a sport. A sahara is a sport. A sport is a sport. PS keep the select trac option though

This seems like a great forum already. Thanks for the conversation. I feel better about just contacting this dealer tomorrow and, like suggested, just telling them I have learned of dealers offering 6% off invoice and if they want my business they can match it. Worst case, I move on to another dealership. I do think I'm still happy with my build. I suppose I could get a Rubicon, but I think it wouldn't include my choices in upgrades for the same price and I really don't care about the rock crawling stuff included in the Rubicon. Seems better to spend that money on the comforts I want?
Get quotes from Gupton and Chapman first. Decide how much a trip to either would cost and add to the quotes you got. They will balk. If so, walk and place your order. Hundreds on this forum have.

And the sweet 4:1 transfer case ratio vs. the 2.7:1 in the Sport/Sahara T-case. Rubicon crawl ratio is quite tasty!
And don't forget the rubi red dash panels too!

I see your point. But most people don’t need or want a Rubicon. Option for option, Willys vs Rubicon, there will be a big price difference. There are those who will buy a base Rubicon at $45k just to have a Rubicon, and yeah a handful will use it’s full capabilities. Any Wrangler on the lot, even one with zero options, will go places most other 4x4s can not. If someone wants to pay the difference or add another year of $600 plus payments, great.

And, I just gotta say, WILLYS! Not Willy, not Willie, not Willy’s. Sorry for the short rant. It’s all good now.

So yeah, Beached Whale has a valid point that a Rubicon can be cheaper than some Sports or Willys. A Sport can also be optioned into Sahara range. What makes sense for some doesnt for others.

Let’s say that you have a $45k max budget. A base Rubicon can be found around that price today for those who shop hard enough. Everything is going up in price very fast right now. If you bought a new Rubicon in 2020 for $39k and change, you can not replace it for that today. Anyway, say a guy finds that he can get a Willys with LED headlights, 8.4 Alpine, trailer tow and a sprinkling of other stuff for $43k if ordered from the right dealer. Should that same buyer say “Hmmm, but I could get a base Rubicon for just $2k more”. All of these numbers are arbitrary though because there are so many odd ways to actually configure one that a buyer has to find a very knowledgeable dealer or spend a significant amount of time reading here before they figure it out. Resale is a percentage of MSRP. A Rubicon will usually sell for more becuase it usually costs more. However, a Rubicon has the advantage of selling faster as they are sought after more on the used market.

As for me, 3rd day down with a bad flu. I’m making some rambling posts, I know. Really not trying to piss anyone off but I probably have.

Hell yeah! By reading some of the posts in the past, just changing those is akin to de-Rubiconing the Jeep

Got a response from the dealer. They are telling me that a customer is entitled to rebates on the zip code a vehicle is registered in, so driving to Tennessee doesn't always work out so well. It really seems like they are willing to let me walk rather than discount further than the few hundred dollars they already have.
I have not spoken to the PA dealership yet, I asked about tread lightly participation and will see what they say.

Gotta remember the discount guys are making it on volume.

Tread Lightly is actually FCA Affiliate, and will get you the FFP number on the order sheets that show invoice. I'd just ask for Affiliate instead of saying tread lightly.

Johnson DCJ is only showing one Affiliate sale, Team Welsh is showing 33, John Johnson 14, Beyer 90, and Fullerton 133. (I used the dealer zip from your price sheet).

There's a 30 day clock on tread lightly from sign up to when you can use it to take delivery, I'd get that donation done ASAP.

They are lying to you. I am a NJ resident and still was able to get the 7% off invoice from Gupton

Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you get that deal? I just want to present this info to them.

I picked up my Jeep from Gupton on November 30, 2021, so not too long ago.
