And, I just gotta say, WILLYS! Not Willy, not Willie, not Willy’s. Sorry for the short rant. It’s all good now.

It’s spelled with a Y, the owners last name was “Willys”. He pronounced it willis. Was at the Philly auto show today and was told that the Willis (like what you talkin bout Willis) was there best selling model. I said A WHAT?? They said a Willis. I said oh they'd have a field day with you guys here!![]()
We're not all that bad but I will say it does get worse the closer you get to NYC. I've driven all over this country and seen some crazy things in other states...As an aside, years ago, when my kids were looking at schools out east, we drove through New Jersey on a beautiful summer day. We had a total of about four hours of driving time in New Jersey. In that time we saw a woman run off the road because she was trying to pass, there was oncoming traffic, and other motorists would not let her back in line. We also got screamed at and flipped off three times, and honked at several times, for such things as stopping at stop signs, yielding to another car with right of way, and only going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. we’d never seen anything like it. Still haven’t. Our trip continued through New York City and up through New England, but we never experienced anything like New Jersey anywhere else. For rest of our trip after New Jersey our teenage sons let out a “Homer Simpson scream” every time they saw a New Jersey license plate. I can’t understand how a group of people that quick to anger would tolerate getting ritually spanked by their local Jeep dealers.![]()
That wont matter to dealers here. I can tell you over the last 10 years they don't want to get off sticker.with the war and fuel prices doing what they are...there is going to be a glut of vehicles in a few months...6 weeks ago I bought a JLRUD and got a deal $5k off MSRP. I'm seeing prices already dropping around me (Maryland)...they've come down just in the last week quite a bit. Wait till mid summer or early fall and go back to your same car dealer and feed him his same line back..."the market being what it is I"ll offer you $6k under list or buy from someone else"
in my opinion now is definitely NOT the time to buy...if you can wait a few months the markets are likely to be much more in your favor
If a dealer has an unlimited supply of people willing to pay sticker price there's no reason for them to sell Jeeps for less. That wont matter to dealers here. I can tell you over the last 10 years they don't want to get off sticker.
If you want to wait till mid, late summer that will just be 5 - 8 months you could have been in a jeep... and probably for more than they want now.
That's how John North Willys pronounced his name. Was at the Philly auto show today and was told that the Willis (like what you talkin bout Willis) was there best selling model. I said A WHAT?? They said a Willis. I said oh they'd have a field day with you guys here!![]()
its a big deal if you're a DD. Any change to aerodynamics, wheels/tires will make a huge difference in drive quality. Most aftermarket changes for a wrangler are best geared for off-road performance. sprung vs unsprung weight, offset, scrub, lifts, levels will all effect the handling in an already crappy ride. First you'll mod the tires then regear, then, then and then 10k in the hole. Then the trade in for the new version.I'm going to run 255/80R17's, which compared to the stock 32" tires, should be right at 1" difference (32.1 vs 33.1) but I'll physically measure them mounted to mounted when I swap tires to compare. It's not that big a deal, but it's a couple hundred RPM at cruise, which puts the 6 speed cruise RPM below 2000 until nearly 80. I'd rather be in the 21-2200 range where there's a little more power for hills. To be honest, the 4.10s might be the better match out here for hills.
I agree, 3.73 should be standard with the 32" tires, 4.10 would be a good option.
Since you're in NJ, consider buying from Koons in Tyson's Corner, VA or Criswell in Gaithersburg, MD. Not too far to travel and I believe both offer forum pricing of 8% under invoice. Search the forum for their details. For 51k, you could ordered a Rubicon from one of the forum dealers for about what you are paying MSRP for the Willys. Just an option if you’re willing to travel.
I was stressed about buying my Gadiator.I appreciate the deep breath idea. I am admittedly stressed about this purchase.
Congrats!Well, I'll close this thread out... Duped or not, she's supposedly gonna be here in 3 months
The closest participating dealer in PA is no longer offering a discount. MSRP on any custom orders. So I did a little better than that and stayed local. I'm not into the Tennessee road trip idea. I CAN'T WAIT! See you guys soon, you'll be sick of me in no time![]()
