I'd say it is extremely unlikely you'll get a volume discount deal from a local dealer. That doesn't mean that the hassle may not be worth the difference between getting it from out of state home and the 1% under invoice you'll get from affiliate.Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you get that deal? I just want to present this info to them.
Yea, I agree. My local dealer would do the 1% below invoice with Tread Lightly and a custom order. Unfortunately, you have to play the game to win. I did check Criswell in Maryland when I was looking. They were $1,000 more than Gupton and wouldn’t price match the price that Gupton was giving me.Cool, thanks again. I appreciate it. I am really excited to get a jeep, but man do I hate this process. Would be nice to just walk in and place an order.
It's easy. Willys Sport is built on the Sport model. Base model to start with, which means manual windows, manual door locks, base radio, no A/C. Adding A/C gets the 7" screen. Adding the Willys package to a Sport gets the LSD rear diff and M220 axle, rock sliders, HD brakes, decals, 17" Moab wheels with 255/75R17 mud terrain tires, Rubicon shocks, all weather mats, tinted hardtop glass, black grill, and the black painted ends front bumper (Sport S/Sahara style w/black painted inserts). For the $2500 upcharge, it's a decent package. You couldn't individually select all that stuff for the price.Hey, Mike. I appreciate your perspective. Considering all those things, I Dont really think that buying a Willy's makes me delusional... Maybe, I dunno. To my thinking, it has several options bundled together that I like. The led headlamps, I like the rims, black grille, and some others. I would remove that rear decal along with any dealership nonsense stuck on the back.
I'm recently retired, of course working another job nowso I have some disposable income and a midlife crisis vision of the all weather convertible of my youth. Great in snow, fun in summer. No plans of off roading, which is where I guess I may seem like a loser with the Willys. I haven't taken the time to spec out a sport s with every option, admittedly, but added a bunch onto the Willys as my grand Cherokee has spoiled me with heated seats, big screen stereo etc.
I was basically only concerned because of my confusion with the Willys designation vs Willy's sport. Which still puzzles me.
Go to this website and find a dealer near you. I bought my Rubicon and got 8% below invoice, saving $8,000 compared to my local dealer. Look at Koons in VA as many people purchase from them and rave about the experience. They show a 5% below invoice price and that would save you at least $4,000.I appreciate the deep breath idea. I am admittedly stressed about this purchase.
The difference between tires spec'd at 33" and the tires on the Willys is only 1/2" You will have no problems switching to that size.I really, really wish they'd made the 3.73 axle ratio available, as we're bumping to 33" tires and think that would have been the best fit. Just going to drive ours for a bit then see if I want to change ratios.
Even better would be 4.10 standard w/ 4.56 option for the AT and 4.56/5.13 for the 6MT IMO.The difference between tires spec'd at 33" and the tires on the Willys is only 1/2" You will have no problems switching to that size.
I agree about the 3.73s. With the auto it doesn't make that big of a difference, but it does with the 6 speed. But, 3.73s should be standard with the Willys with an option to go to 4.10.
I'm going to run 255/80R17's, which compared to the stock 32" tires, should be right at 1" difference (32.1 vs 33.1) but I'll physically measure them mounted to mounted when I swap tires to compare. It's not that big a deal, but it's a couple hundred RPM at cruise, which puts the 6 speed cruise RPM below 2000 until nearly 80. I'd rather be in the 21-2200 range where there's a little more power for hills. To be honest, the 4.10s might be the better match out here for hills. The difference between tires spec'd at 33" and the tires on the Willys is only 1/2" You will have no problems switching to that size.

Ok. I ha e been doing my best to research and come up with an order for a Willy's unlimited. Yesterday I almost gave a deposit after doing a build with the dealer. I decided to step away for a day and make sure all was right, because I always feel like I'm being pressured sitting at that desk.
Sooo... I'm here reading over my worksheet for the thousandth time, when I notice something. I think.
So on my phone I configured my Jeep, starting with an unlimited Willy's. The salesperson looked at my order and transferred it all onto their paperwork and came up very close to the same price, telling me the market isn't allowing for haggling, yada yada. I end up getting a few bucks off for this and that and 500 off for a first responder discount. I'm ok with that I guess in this day and age.
Now that I'm looking at my sheet from them, the top line doesn't say Unlimited Willy's, it says "Wrangler unlimited sport JLJL74".
I'm thinking they are trying to sell me a Willy's sport vs. a Willy's. Or am I looking at this wrong ? They make the packages and options so confusing as it is, then it changes up all the codes on the dealer paperwork.
Am I wrong? If this is the case I'm basically fed up with this whole process and about to bail on ever getting this jeep![]()
Will you be able to get your deposit back?At this point, I may consider just moving to Tennessee![]()
