I only came across this forum yesterday, so I haven't spoken to the PA dealer yet. I think the options I chose are worth paying for, and since there are no wranglers anywhere close to this on lots around here, it seemed like a good idea to order it exactly how I wanted it. I visited 4 dealers yesterday and all are charging MSRP minus maybe 500-700 bucks. The ones slightly further away all have a 3k upcharge.
I will call the Horsham pa dealer, and share this sheet with them to get a direct comparison on pricing.
Welcome! You came to the right place - lots of good info on here. When you email / talk to the dealers on that post / spreadsheet - make sure it’s with the contact listed or you may not get that discount and folks on here have worked with them so you know they are forum friendly and won’t BS you.

best of luck! And ask as many questions as you want here - people are generally very helpful

We all know the vehicle market is different these days because of COVID, but one constant remains: you can’t tell what a dealer is actually willing to sell you a Jeep for from looking at the stickers in the Jeep windows. Those have always been imaginary numbers, and they almost never disclose all the made up costs dealers tack on (detail fees, doc fees, etching charges, undercoating costs, “flooring”, pin-striping, etc). Remember, dealers are required to post the Monroni sticker on a new vehicle, but nothing prohibits them from making up a bunch of imaginary nonsense charges. If they want to assess a $250 bought-on-Tuesday-fee, they can do it. They can ask for anything.) (I had never seen a “doc fee” anywhere in the USA until about 35 years ago, but buying vehicles has always required document processing. It’s no different from charging a “dealership electricity fee — just another cost of doing business. I’m told some dealers out east charge over $500 for “docs”, which is complete bullshit.)

I try to support local businesses that support me, and I am willing to pay a little bit more to do that. In that respect the local dealers start with the advantage of convenience AND my desire to support locals (unless it’s one of the few truly lousy dealerships).

If I were you, I’d see what the nearby sponsoring dealers will do for you. Remember to confirm the all-in, all-fees, out-the-door price.) Then I’d tell your local salesman you have a below invoice offer, but you’d like to support his dealership if he’s competitive. Then ask for His best out the door price. If he gives you a price you like, order it. If not, order with a sponsoring dealer.

Last note: Every dealer wants to be the last one to bid as long as they can get a hard price target. They’ll want to know who the other dealership is and what they quoted — because they’ll want to bitch about the other dealer and assess your inconvenience value, and they’ll want to see if they can squeeze just under that target. They don’t want to volunteer any more margin than they have to in order to earn the sale. But I feel like the locals already have enough advantages, and it’s not fair to the sponsoring dealerships here to pedal their offer around the country so another dealer can nickel-and-dime it to death. If your local dealer won’t just shoot you a competitive price without knowing all your other business, screw’em. That’s their choice, but you’re not obliged to hang out and listen to the “sales manager” tell you about his business model and how they need to do business. Not my problem, not your problem, and damn boring to listen to. You gave them a fair chance at your business — so now you can order from Gupton (or whoever) with a clear conscience, and they’ll have no right to whine when you bring your new Jeep in for warranty work.

High pressure dealers, hate them. When you see staff wearing suits, it isn't to look "professional" it's part of the intimidation process. To look like a boss to average people. I HATE DEALERS.

Good times bad times, current times or past times Jersey Jeep dealers wont budge off MSRP unless Jeep is offering something. Been there before and I'm there now. Its so bad its hard to believe anyone is getting discounts. Glad to hear you got the FR discount.

Also, keep in mind that you can order the 24w (3.6, 8 speed auto, ESS, no eTorque) for about $1500 less. The dealer can order it, it's not on the Jeep build and Price though.
I was told this week by Gupton that you can’t get 8spd auto with ESS anymore. Has to be etorque on 22 Models. I built mine that way on Jeep site and had 2 dealerships quote - both had the build changed from ess to etorque.

Ask if them to check if 24W is still on the books. Jeep was quiet about it and began to offer it again due to chip shortages. Many dealers were left unaware. But perhaps Jeep removed the option as quietly as the offered it.

I questioned it after the quote was sent & before placing the order. (Ended up going unlimited sport s. (Perhaps the option is available with 2d)

I was also told I only had the e torque option for a six cylinder with this build.

Good point. I always get a kick out of the “let me talk to my manager” types. They are just patsies for the higher-ups. ?

Then screw’em. Everybody in New Jersey should drive the five minutes required to shop in another state. Okay, I know the traffic is terrible and it’s not really five minutes, but the states out there are comparatively small. We drove from Portland, Maine to the middle of Pennsylvania in less time than it takes to cross Oregon, so it can’t require much effort for New Jersey folks to buy out of state.

As an aside, years ago, when my kids were looking at schools out east, we drove through New Jersey on a beautiful summer day. We had a total of about four hours of driving time in New Jersey. In that time we saw a woman run off the road because she was trying to pass, there was oncoming traffic, and other motorists would not let her back in line. We also got screamed at and flipped off three times, and honked at several times, for such things as stopping at stop signs, yielding to another car with right of way, and only going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. we’d never seen anything like it. Still haven’t. Our trip continued through New York City and up through New England, but we never experienced anything like New Jersey anywhere else. For rest of our trip after New Jersey our teenage sons let out a “Homer Simpson scream” every time they saw a New Jersey license plate. I can’t understand how a group of people that quick to anger would tolerate getting ritually spanked by their local Jeep dealers. :swear::LOL:

I grew up in NJ. Everything you said above is 100% true! Noticed a HUGE difference in driver road manners when I moved out of state. Lived in FL and RI and both are way better than NJ for this. Last I checked, NJ also has some of the highest car insurance rates, property tax rates, and number of landfills. I believe it also lags in population density and number of angry grilles per capita.

They just go get a cup of coffee. You’re supposed to sit in their cubicle and fantasize with the brochure.

If they do that to me I immediately get up and go for a walk to the most distant spot on the car lot, or the neighboring car lot. They can come find me. I don’t care. They need the sale more than I need the purchase.

I also tell them I don’t want to be “turned” (code for introduced to another salesperson). And, though I’m sure he’s a great guy, I don’t want to meet the 28 year old “sales manager“. The “turns” and manager intervention are all part of the traditional car sales model called a “systems house”. Each introduction and new pairing is designed to fatigue the buyer. Don’t put up with it. It’s your money. You set the rules. There are lots of other dealers.

Another one that I laugh at is when they say, “So what’s it gonna take to get this deal done today?”
My answer: A different salesperson, apparently. ?
Edit: Or a different dealer.

Mm. Now consider living adjacent to that state, and not being able to legally prevent the residents from crossing the Delaware river.
