Please don't sugar-coat it next time, tell us how you really feel about my state, lol... I can say one thing--since I bought my Wrangler, now people wave at me instead of flipping me off! It's really quite nice! Then screw’em. Everybody in New Jersey should drive the five minutes required to shop in another state. Okay, I know the traffic is terrible and it’s not really five minutes, but the states out there are comparatively small. We drove from Portland, Maine to the middle of Pennsylvania in less time than it takes to cross Oregon, so it can’t require much effort for New Jersey folks to buy out of state.
As an aside, years ago, when my kids were looking at schools out east, we drove through New Jersey on a beautiful summer day. We had a total of about four hours of driving time in New Jersey. In that time we saw a woman run off the road because she was trying to pass, there was oncoming traffic, and other motorists would not let her back in line. We also got screamed at and flipped off three times, and honked at several times, for such things as stopping at stop signs, yielding to another car with right of way, and only going 10 mph over the posted speed limit. we’d never seen anything like it. Still haven’t. Our trip continued through New York City and up through New England, but we never experienced anything like New Jersey anywhere else. For rest of our trip after New Jersey our teenage sons let out a “Homer Simpson scream” every time they saw a New Jersey license plate. I can’t understand how a group of people that quick to anger would tolerate getting ritually spanked by their local Jeep dealers.![]()
When I have a day that I'm just really bored and I don't feel like doing any "honey-do's", I visit these dealers and troll their salespeople. It is very entertaining to waste their time as I look at new vehicles.High pressure dealers, hate them. When you see staff wearing suits, it isn't to look "professional" it's part of the intimidation process. To look like a boss to average people. I HATE DEALERS.
So, to answer the question originally asked, on the Jeep configurator here are the willys sport vs the willys. THe differences are on line 2: 74G vs 74E,

That is how the Build is, starts with a wrangler sport and then it adds Willys, when that is added , it automatically adds all Standard Willys Options.Pardon my ignorance with this, but how do I know if I'm getting the upgrade axles, etc that come on a Willy's? It seem alike there is a sport with an appearance package as well as an actual Willy's? Hopefully I'm being paranoid![]()
Get quotes from Gupton and Chapman first. Decide how much a trip to either would cost and add to the quotes you got. They will balk. If so, walk and place your order. Hundreds on this forum have. This seems like a great forum already. Thanks for the conversation. I feel better about just contacting this dealer tomorrow and, like suggested, just telling them I have learned of dealers offering 6% off invoice and if they want my business they can match it. Worst case, I move on to another dealership. I do think I'm still happy with my build. I suppose I could get a Rubicon, but I think it wouldn't include my choices in upgrades for the same price and I really don't care about the rock crawling stuff included in the Rubicon. Seems better to spend that money on the comforts I want?
And the sweet 4:1 transfer case ratio vs. the 2.7:1 in the Sport/Sahara T-case. Rubicon crawl ratio is quite tasty!I built a Willy for about 50K. Ordered it. I had second thoughts and canceled it and ordered a Rubicon for 55K. Dealer didnt take deposit. They'll sell it anyway these days as none are on the lot. PLEASE do yourself a favor and rethink the Willy. I was in your shoes also. With the Rubicon you get: 33s (best in class tire). highline flares/Dana 44 front/rear/lockers/disconnect sway/8.4" stereo Alpine Premieum. 4.1 gear ratio/awesome vented hood/upgraded interior/higher resale. Lots of people buy second/3rd hand rubicons to smash the trail with. A few buy new ones. A willy is a sport. A sahara is a sport. A sport is a sport. PS keep the select trac option though
I see your point. But most people don’t need or want a Rubicon. Option for option, Willys vs Rubicon, there will be a big price difference. There are those who will buy a base Rubicon at $45k just to have a Rubicon, and yeah a handful will use it’s full capabilities. Any Wrangler on the lot, even one with zero options, will go places most other 4x4s can not. If someone wants to pay the difference or add another year of $600 plus payments, great.I built a Willy for about 50K. Ordered it. I had second thoughts and canceled it and ordered a Rubicon for 55K. Hell yeah! By reading some of the posts in the past, just changing those is akin to de-Rubiconing the JeepAnd don't forget the rubi red dash panels too!
Gotta remember the discount guys are making it on volume.Got a response from the dealer. They are telling me that a customer is entitled to rebates on the zip code a vehicle is registered in, so driving to Tennessee doesn't always work out so well. It really seems like they are willing to let me walk rather than discount further than the few hundred dollars they already have.
I have not spoken to the PA dealership yet, I asked about tread lightly participation and will see what they say.
They are lying to you. I am a NJ resident and still was able to get the 7% off invoice from GuptonGot a response from the dealer. I picked up my Jeep from Gupton on November 30, 2021, so not too long ago.Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you get that deal? I just want to present this info to them.
