this post saved me a ton of money! so thankful for the jeep community! my dealer quoted me $642.. its crazy what they try to get away with! anyways, thanks everyone!
That’s ridiculous. It cost me less then that for an oil change and fuel filter(s) on my 6.0 PS, which takes a shitload of oil and has two fuel filters, one of which is kind of a pain in the ass to deal with.

Friggen dealers.

Yes. A drain pan can handle a variety of oils and even some diesel fuel. Just try not to get coolant mixed in.

Hey Everyone,

Just looking around to see if there are any strong opinions about replacing the diesel fuel filter sooner than the 36k mi / 3 year interval that I believe is the recommended maintenance interval.

Our JLURD has 3,500 miles and is about 2-1/2 years old. I'm a big believer in preventative maintenance; but, I'm also a high ranking official in the "If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is" club.

My thought is to wait until closer to fall to do the replacement.

Thanks for any opinions.

Jeff

I was under the impression that it was a 20K mile service interval. I do mine every 12K.

It's never bad idea to be preemptive. I changed mine at 18,000 mi, and will continue to do mine every 10,000 mi now.

Oil changes every 5,000 mi, fuel filter changes every 10,000 mi.

You are correct. For the Wrangler it's 20k. For the Ram it's 10k. I'm going to replace my fuel filter with every oil change.

with the BioDiesel and Renewable Diesel mixed into a lot of the fuel dispensed as "#2" here and where we travel, i don't feel comfortable extending intervals out.

i replace my Fuel Filter every other oil change as recommended.
typically 5K changes on the oil, so 10K changes on the Fuel Filter.
