Does anybody here have knowledge of OEM fuel filters for the ecodiesel? Also fits ran diesel models. Filter on the left is from diesel filtersonline.com. Filter on the right is from an eBay merchant from California. They look similar, but have different filter, media and different colored plastic. There is no manufacturing date on the box of the discounted one from California. The discounted filter from the merchant in California was $20 apiece compared to 50 from diesel filtersonline.com.

Given the (supposed) fragile nature of the fuel pump, this is not an area to economize. I'd opt for the for-sure OEM version. [that's what I did]

Thanks for your input but that’s not what I’m inquiring about.

I’ll rephrase.
Has Mopar changed their manufacturing process and also added a date code to the newer stock?
Thanks

Does the one on the right also have a manufacture date on it? Left does. Just wondering if they are far enough apart that maybe process could have changed a bit.

Well then I am going to say 072519 is a date code and is over 4 years old, probably why it is 20 bucks.

My point was, rather than try to validate the $20 Ebay filter, I'd assume it is counterfeit and pony up the extra $30. If your fuel pump fails (after the recall fix) the dealer will use the off-brand filter to beat you about the head & shoulders and deny your warranty claim. This falls into the if-it-looks-to-good-to-be true category.

The one on the right is a counterfeit filter. All genuine oil/fuel filters has pkg date on the box and comes in loose plastic bag for the oil and loosely shrinked for the fuel filters.

Also, the genuine filter media has that cotton like texture and the pleats are usually ugly looking too ?

I too made several stupid amozon purchases. As reliable as something like eBay. Returned them all got my money back. And yes I put them side by side just as you have. Trying to look for the similarities in any and all irregularities. I now stick with reputable companies only. Especially having a outstanding fuel pump recall and what could happen as Rick described and I'm sure would go down very similar. For what $30 bucks. Those vendors and Distributors are only still around because fools buy from them. Most are all supporting the China manufacturer anyway. That's why I recently switched to Doc' s Diesel
American and reputable. Tried and true.

I will try and find it... but I just read a comparison of oil filters (for the diesel) and the Docs was one of the worst performing out of the group... I was really surprised. The oem Mopar outperformed it by 50% if I remember correctly.

I use docs, but the filters are made in China even tho they are an Ohio company…

I buy from ebay or Amazon. I don't mind paying for quality but the prices at dealers are stupid and I have yet to find in my searches a good discount place that many people like. I do trust Geno's but they are kinda spendy as well.
