Does anyone know what color the Mopar fuel filter is?
I just replaced my original with an aftermarket one last week, when I took out the original filter it was colored gray, I replaced it with a $15 aftermarket one that was white, I immediately ordered a Mopar one just in case this aftermarket one failed, I just received the Mopar one and the box was opened with a white one, the box even shows a gray one!
Did I get scammed??

Amazon, it’s listed as “Genuine Mopar Filter Kit 68436631AA
$62.00
I’m just wondering if it’s the real deal due to the one I replaced was grey in color and the photo on the box is gray.

The price sounds about right. By the way, Jeep OEM fuel filters are made in China just like most of them.

China, China, China...the USA is SO lucky to have China, where would we be without them?

Well , I guess what’s the point of spending $60 on a Mopar one that’s made in China when we can spend $15 on a aftermarket one that’s Made in China!?

As long as it's a reputable brand, I don't see the harm for the fuel filter. I wouldn't go full wish.com on an item that spends it's life soaked in a solvent.

All MiC stuff isn't the same. The crappy quality is normally because that's what the company that sells the item picks. If the company pays for better materials, better quality control, etc, that item could be as good as OEM (or better).

China doesn't necessarily do the engineering. To stay with the filter example, on my old F150, aftermarket oil filters (including brand names) left out the anti-drainback valve, without which the top end of the motor would be empty of oil on cold start. The Motorcraft had the valve (and was often cheaper than the other name brands.

This is what I replaced my original with two weeks ago, looked the same and seemed built well except that it was white not the grey colored original, so I bought the Mopar brand right away in case the $12 one failed, only to find that it was also white not grey, there is no difference that I could see, so maybe I’ll return the $60 one and trade for five of those $12 ones.

I personally would at least go name brand. Looks like the Wix is under $40 on RockAuto:

I was reading recently about Wix, they too use Chinese filters☹. That depends on the type though, Wix also uses filters made in USA. A lot of major brands have their filters made in China to their specs, most folks do not even notice. But you have to be careful, Chinese knockoffs won‘t meet OEM specs for the most part.
A case in point, the Diesel oil filter by Wix that sells for about $60 is made in China.

Interesting. It's surprisingly difficult to find the Micron ratings of filters to confirm compliance with the OM spec:

From best I can tell, the Wix p/n at RockAuto does, but it means relying on a Q&A on O'reilly's.

Appears to be genuine. If you reference my post from back in january (here.) the filter I pulled out looked like it had been in there damn near the life of the vehicle up to my point of ownership. Hard to really know for certain, but regardless you can see the stamping on top as well as the plastic color. When I purchased my new filter, I did the same thing, amazon original oem blah blah. It looked virtually identical to what you've got there. I've been running it now for roughly 2500 miles and haven't seen anything alarming or suspicious that would make me second guess it.

Edit: found another photo of the top. It’s not an EXACT match in terms of stamping, but it’s pretty damn close to what you’ve got. I suspect the stamp has changed in the couple of years since whenever the hell this filter was installed.
