Hey Jerry, how did you like the Patagonia MT tires? Did they do a good job off-road, how many miles did you get out of them?
Great off-road performance. Decent on the highway and, overall a great value. Cons: Uneven wear pattern, not a great lifespan. I'm somewhere around 45k with them, don't remember exactly where I was when I put them on.

Did great in Moab, Colorado, and Texas

OK, that doesn't sound too bad especially for an MT. I would have preferred the tread gap (white) would have been the same tread gap (red) as the rest of the tire just to avoid small stones getting stuck in there but that's just me. I've read a lot of people like that tire.

Thanks for the feedback.

4 auto is not AWD. It only engages the front drive shaft if there's rear wheel slip. Put the mismatched spare on the front and drive all day long on dry pavement. The jeep behaves just like a 2wd. Even mismatched in the rear likely wouldn't engage the front shaft with only a 1/2" tire size difference. If the auto was that sensitive or would engage around every corner.

I am sorry that is incorrect with the mp3022. There are literally 1000s of reported t-case clutch failures on that t-case with mismatched tire sizes. You don’t have to look hard to find where someone lost their clutches in a JGC from mismatched tire sizes…. Same t-case…. different wheel speeds will engage and slip clutches until they burn up….

The grand Cherokee comes with a donut spare? Are you telling us they can't use the spare that comes with the vehicle?

I'm just curious on something? What about all the vehicles that come with a donut tire from the factory? No punt intended, just curious.

They don’t come with a donut spare…. I have one…

But many cases of owners putting on a single tire or even 2 new tires that end up with burned clutches. I hope that they have improved the programming of the t-case in the wrangler, but all the people with burned clutches in 392s in low miles is not a good indication there was an improvement made.

Grand Cherokees without factory tow package come with donut spare. Only the tow package includes the full size spare. My wk2 had a donut, until eventually I bought another wheel and tire.

Correct— full size spare was one of the reasons I got the tow pkg on my 15, even though it will not tow.

Burnt up clutches in 392s prove its an interior design and is not a function of different tire sizes. One of the reasons I'd never buy a Jeep that doesn't offer 2HI is durability. Clutches are a potential failure point that I don't want and I definitely don't need the Jeep to decide when I need 4HI. Give me a standard 231/241 and I'll pull the lever when I need it.
