I was originally looking at the terraflex alpha mount based on another recommendation and was pretty much set on it but the description on this relocation setup says it has "brackets for various offsets" but maybe that's just for general fitment and not adjustability?

I also see that the description says it moves the tire out 1.35".

What did you end up going with? I’m in the same boat currently

I got the mopar kit from amazon a little cheaper than what i saw from other sites. had to order in two pieces though. one order for the relocation bracket and another order for the reinforcement plate. i figure oem should be maximum compatible. i suppose you could get the relocation bracket without the plate if u want.

just throwing it out there. not really offering any input in terms of comparing it against the other brands. i’m happy with what i have but maybe the other brands are better, idk.

The teraflex alpha carrier.

I think I probably over thought this way too much. The teraflex carrier is a very solid piece and the adjustability works really well.

I also knew I was eventually going up to 35s - and I already did now - so being able to adjust again has been useful.

For what it's worth I try to keep an eye on weight being added.

The teraflex alpha carrier is about 22.3lbs and the oem tire carrier being removed is about 8.2lbs. So you are looking at roughly a 14lbs increase. Nothing terrible.

Would definitely recommend the teraflex alpha carrier over just the standard relocation kit.

I ended up also buying the teraflex hinged carrier but found I got a better deal as well by ordering the tire carrier and hinge carrier separately through different places rather than buying the kit.

The tire carrier didn't seem to have a discount anywhere but the hinge I found for about $120 cheaper on Amazon ( and looks like about $90 cheaper on Northridge 4x4 not including the rewards program)

Thanks. Do you think the hinged carrier is needed with only adding ~14 pounds more? I'm running a c load 285/75/17 (34" tire) with a lighter (25 lb) wheel so my total wheel is about 85 pounds. From what I've read, I wouldn't need the hinged carrier... why did you end up upgrading?

My wheel/tire setup is about 87lbs. Originally I was expecting to be a few pounds below the 85 lbs limit.

I went with the teraflex hinged carrier because of a couple things that happened but mostly it can be summed up as simply piece of mind for pushing the limit a bit.

I was originally going with Toyo AT3 315s which weigh 59lbs. With a 23 lb wheel I was happy to stick with the stock hinge setup.

But I got a last minute smoking deal on presidents day sale for 315 k02s and went with that. Load C ko2s with Q load rating are about 63lbs but the tire shop ordered the T load rating instead which is about a pound heavier. Not a big difference in general but when we are talking about the weight limit on the back it's a little bit more important.

I also have the Teraflex license plate relocation kit. Didn't weigh it, I'd say maybe 2 - 3lbs? Again nothing crazy but the little weight was adding up and I am around 89 - 90lbs now.

If I was strictly street driving I probably wouldn't have upgraded to the hinge carrier. But with offroading I figured it would be better to have it.

The added weight on the tire carrier was noticeable but I didn't notice any weakness/creaks/etc with just street driving. Of course not being massively over the weight limit I wouldn't expect any immediate problems...more concerned about long term breakdown.

Best I can tell from reading tons of other people's experiences, if you are slightly above the weight limit of the oem carrier it seems like it's a 50/50 chance of something going wrong or not and a higher probability of a problem if off reading.

So with all that I decided to get the teraflex hinged carrier for piece of mind.
