Haha it didn’t come with them as I think the alpha is meant to tuck back in so it can use stock bumpers. But yeah I think I’m gonna return for now. If I was running 35s it would be another story.
Haha yeah that’s what im thinking. Are extending those snubbers necessary if it’s slightly pressing against the bumper? I hear no vibrations or anything.
Hey man, I had the toyo AT3 285/75/17 with 0 offset / 4.75bs wheels fit on my '21 willys stock tire carrier too. It rubs slightly on the bumper but nothing bad at all... pretty slight. I'm thinking about returning the $360 tire carrier I had purchased since I thought I would really need it. Did...
Hey guys. The tire shop finally mounted my spare after getting a replacement from fifteen52. I was shocked to see that it actually fits, with slight rub on the bumper. It clears the tail light too. Only thing is the rubber bumps don't go out as far. The rubbing is minimal and I can still easily...
If you're on the TF site, it says something like "if your tire/wheel combo exceeds 100 lbs, you need the reinforcement." I was just saying that even if you account for the added weight of the carrier itself, its still under 100 lbs with our wheel/tire combo (being about 85 pounds).
yeah the TF instructions say if your wheel/tire combo is more than 100lbs, you need their reinforcement. Sounds like you're good. I think they factor in the HD carrier at that number too.
How many miles would be too many to throw the spare into the mix? I had weirdly worn ko2's recently and just putting on a lift gave me some death wobble since the tires didn't handle it well. Of course, the install place told me this so not sure if its actually true. But It seems to me if you...
Yeah thats true. Another post said the Alpha HD carrier adds about 14 more pounds as opposed to just the relo bracket kit. I know we were wondering so there it is!
Thanks man. In
Thanks. Do you think the hinged carrier is needed with only adding ~14 pounds more? I'm running a c load 285/75/17 (34" tire) with a lighter (25 lb) wheel so my total wheel is about 85 pounds. From what I've read, I wouldn't need the hinged carrier... why did you end up upgrading?
Yeah I got confused in that thread as they said the offset wheels set off alerts. I don’t have the adv safety package so maybe I’m good. But then saying the camera can still sense it and set things off is what’s confusing. I need to see if people with the same offset wheels run the HD carrier...
Thanks for pics! Not bad at all. I have 0 offset/4.75 BS/8.5” width wheels but I’m thinking it would only obstruct it a tad more. Guess the HD carrier it is!
Thanks. Found this thread…https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/severe-false-alert-sensor-warnings-while-in-reverse-after-adding-an-aftermarket-tire-wheel-to-the-existing-or-an-aftermarket-spare-tire-tailgate-mount.78163/page-1
Seems some even had issues with the HD carrier and sensors...
Maybe I’ll just get the HD carrier and learn from your mistakes haha. Are you just running stock wheels on yours right now? But one thing you noted was weight. Is this lighter still, than say… running the RC kit?
I don’t want the wheel obstructing my camera. Plus, could always sell it before...
