Does anyone know if the various throttle tuners out there can help with the delay in throttle? In so-cal I am often in stop and go traffic and the lane next to me may be going 10-15 MPH faster than mine. If I want to get home in time for dinner I have to change lanes. No-one here is nice enough to just let you in, you just have to wait for a break in traffic and go quickly.

for instance, I may be going 20 MPH, the next lane is going 35 when there is a break in traffic. I stomp on the gas you can count an entire second until the engine seems to even get the signal and start going. One second does not sound like much but, in traffic, that much of a delay gets dangerous and what would be a smooth + easy merge becomes a dangerous situation.

What the heck happened to good old fashioned throttle cables? The cable in my 53 year old GTO is original and works perfectly. When I stomp on the gas it goes, just as good now as it was new in 1966. It seems like car companies are trying to add complications for the sake of it even when there is no reason to do so.

Can any of the tuners (Pedal commander, Sprint booster, Hikeit, etc) help with this specific issue? I am already flooring it so a faster throttle curve will not help at all, I need the throttle body to start moving much faster, so I can imagine it needs to receive the signal faster. Electricity travels at 186,000 miles per second so I cannot believe it would take a full second for it to get 2 feet to the engine.

The DBW tuning is built into the tune, and unfortunately all the add-on boxes won't reduce the delay when stomping on the gas. They intercept the throttle signal, making 15% = 25% for example, but the delay is actually in the tune itself, not the pedal or the signal it sends. I am unsure if any of the 3.6 ECU tuners are doing DBW modifications at this time, and 2.0 ECU tuners don't exist yet.

My other DBW vehicle actually suffered from the opposite problem, where the first tiny bit of the throttle was way too aggressive and slow speed driving was like an on-off switch in parking lots. An e-tune was able to smooth the inputs greatly (and also get more power).
