I have now bought two PedalCommder PC78 devices.

Both of them have worked initially, but as soon as I attempt to connect to the device with the mobile app on Android, it fails to connect, and the Pedal Commander device immediately dies.

I was driving around with the device installed all day, so I know it was installed correctly and fully operational.

Nothing I do will get it to work again. The device won't even light up. When I push the power button, I only get a single eco light to flash momentarily, but goes off right away. Thought it was a fluke when the first device died, but now I'm convinced the mobile app is bricking the device.

I've tried unplugging the device and leaving it unplugged, but when plugging it back in, it does the same thing. Won't power on.

What can I do to factory reset this thing, and why is this happening?

Hate to return a 2nd device in 1 week.

Have you reached out to the Pedal Commander app developer? Last Android Pedal Commander app update was on 5/12/22. App updated to version 1.3.2 .

You can email [email protected] and ask them if anyone else has had issues like you are having.

I have not used my Pedal Commander app since this last update but before that.... with past Pedal Commander app versions I never had any issue.

I was provided a few different throttle controllers a ways back by the companies offering the TC's. To me Pedal Commander was the pick of the litter ... especially because of bluetooth/the app.. I ended up keeping the PC and selling the other's..

Anyway, Pedal Commander, Customer Service is very decent.... do reach out to them and ask if other's are having issues....

Perhaps, version 1.3.2 of the Pedal Commander app is problematic?

Please post here what you hear back from Pedal Commander, Customer Service.

Thanks, I did as you suggested, and contacted them via email.

Someone got back to me and told me my "unit permissions needs to be reactivated". So I provided my serial number, and they did something on their end to reset it the next time I attempted to reconnect via the app.

All is working now, and I can now connect via the app.

Customer service was great, but I have to ask why I had this issue with two separate units. I also found a ton of online reviews referencing the same issue. Which leads me to believe this is a common occurrence.

They should fix this annoyance, as it's extremely frustrating for me to spend hours of my time troubleshooting, then ordering a separate unit, only to find out they have locked them remotely on their end for some unknown reason.

Why would a company lock a device remotely when someone connects to it via their Bluetooth app, and not even provide an error message or reason in said app. It just locks up the device and powers itself off. Idiotic!

That being said, love the device.

Thanks for your help!

Good you are good to go again...

Figured they would get back to you pretty quick.

When I saw your thread about the issue, I immediately sent the link to the thread to PC customer service so they were aware...

? for you... Where did you buy your Pedal Commander? I know I had been told there were counterfeit units out there... being sold on Amazon.

Perhaps your 2 units were being seen as counterfeit for some reason/accidentally... and being locked out of PC app use...

I did buy them on Amazon, but from their official store.

The only problem with your theory, is that it wasn't just kicking me out from using the app. It actually bricked the entire units, rendering them useless. And if they were counterfeit, they wouldn't have "re-activated" them.

I'm not sure what their reason is for locking them on me, but it definitely isn't a customer centric reason. Like I said, they worked perfectly prior to connecting them to my phone, which allowed them to phone home, at which point they locked them remotely.

This leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and reduces trust. It's pretty slimy.

I'll continue to use mine, because I love the net effect it has on throttle response, and the configurability. It's just unfortunate they have chosen to inconvenience their customers in this manner.

Again, thank you for your help. I'm glad to have it working.

When the Pedal Commander got bricked, did the throttle go back to stock configuration while the PC was connected, or did the Jeep go into limp mode? Concerned about the safety of the Pedal Commander if it happens while you are on a highway or some traffic situation.

No limp mode. The throttle was just stuck in stock configuration.
