That's what I was going to say...
Dana/Spicer is not in the oil business.
yet they have their own brand of gear oil made for them by BASF, some of which they are pretty proud of saying it is good for 500,000 miles and if you use it they extend the warranty of their axles..
Give me some gear oil that does not stink and that is what I will use regardless of weight :)

I love Dana axles...but 500K miles on a single run of oil? Maybe in an OTR axle that holds 3-5 gallons--definitely not in an Advantek axle that holds 0.4 gallons :LOL:

Synthetic gear oil stinks less than conventional, but still has that smell (oooh...oooh...that smell).

Take a whiff of 85W-140 for a real treat...

oh trust me I have changed many gallons of it over the years....I have been changing my own gear oil since the early 70's.

@virkdoc

You have a Rubi, so you do not need.... you would not need to use additive.. but, do know, there is no problem using a gear oil in your Rubi that already has additive in it. I'm unclear if this product actually has an additive though they hint at it..

So, yes, it would be aok to use.... DO use 75/140 in both front and rear differentials. DO have 4 bottles on hand before you proceed with the deed.

I couldn't find any reference to limited slip additive on their webpage.

I read this in the product description... "specially designed for the lubrication of all types of differentials, including excessive friction differentials where the oil "Limited Slip Oil API GL5” is required. It was developed for hypoid, bevel and spiral gears."

Sounds like it has.... but....

Regardless, the Rubi does not need additive and the OP has a Rubi so the point is moot.

Thank you. We have to go in to change a sensor which is causing my rear diff lock light to keep flashing. i read across the forums about changing the sensor. So will do front and back diffs together.
