Like @Scott.B said I didn't order it because it wasn't available at the time. I figured it was a supply chain thing and I could add it later anyway, which I plan to whether I need it or not.
Yes, my thoughts too.

Thank you to all contributers of this thread. As it stands, there is no option on the website builder or in the order guide for the 2022 ecodiesel.

Interesting; I noticed when building my 2022 that there wasn't the block heater option but (ignorantly) just assumed it was included because of the diesel engine.

Guess that's one more thing I'll be yanking off my 2020 and transferring to the new Jeep when it arrives, assuming the block heater off a Pentastar is the same unit as the one for the Ecodiesel.

FYI, I ordered a block heater for my '21 2.0L Turbo in June 2021. It was $95.

When I went to order my '22 2.0L Turbo in December I was told the block heater is no longer available at the time of ordering. It is now a dealer installed option.

Not sure if that applies to the diesel or not.
A bit peculiar for the 2022s but it is what it is. Gassers have not been nearly as stubborn as diesels in those negative temps. The JK here is a 2018 bought second hand, it is 3.6L with a block heater cord (from the factory) on the driver side engine bay. Installed a Platinum Glass Mat battery prior to this winter and haven't felt a need for the heater, but it is there if needed.

Yeah I don't need one. It only gets -8 or so here and usually for not very long. I always just wanted one and figured it couldn't hurt starting a semi warm engine vs ice cold.

The best part is I found out it is a pocket design, so no messy coolant to deal with on the install. I would just take the one off my 21 that I'm selling to Carvana, theres only one bolt, but it looks like its buried, hard to get to.

I park in the garage most of the time, and we have pretty mild winters here most of the time, but I travel to Colorado, Idaho, and Montana a few times a winter so figured the extra $100 on the order was pretty cheap insurance if I ever wanted/needed it.

I was out skiing around New Years and it was -5 to 0 for the 4 hours I was out. Jeep started right up when I got back to the parking lot. Barely even any glow plug warm-up time. I had similar experience with the 2018 in some negative temps. Certainly nothing like the diesels from even 10-15 years ago with cold starts.

Photos from my 2021.

Plug is tucked along the fender beside the fuse box. It is then in the corrugated plastic cover around the front of the fuse box and up around the steering fluid reservoir where it changes to the head-shield fabric cover and drops down along the engine.

From underside, it is a little hard to follow as it routes to just above the passenger side motor mount. This picture is from above front axle looking back. Motor mount is under, with exhaust manifold wrapped in the heat shield above and behind. Probably easiest to remove passenger wheel well liner to access if you were to install or replace.

Only thing on my build sheet don't know what it is is T3AC
I have yet to see a build sheet but the POC has the sales code of 4UQ and description T3AC, MSRP $0 - FWP $125. Google returned several discussions on the matter but I have not seen a definitive answer to what that is.

This does not help with your 2022 order, but I did order the engine block heater for my 2021 diesel. I have a friend that also has a 2021 diesel and did not order the block heater. Interesting, he has the block heater, he just does not have the 120 VAC power cord.

This is what the ‘22 manual says which makes me think the heater is there?

Yeah I read that too. Unfortunately they state it to be optional and yet there is no indication on the web builder or in the build guide.

I read on one of the JL facebook groups somewhere that the heater doesnt come standard anymore since mid 2021 orders (parts shortages im guessing)...

Anyways, I pick up my 2022 JLURD tomorrow, i'll update you guys with photos tomorrow regarding if the heater comes standard and if they fixed the engine harness that touches the exhaust pipes.

Well I just talked to Devon on JC who was rude and told me it isn’t standard and I should have ordered one because they were available when I placed my order. When I said that it wasn’t an option for the ‘22 they basically said ‘well I don’t know’ and I should now order one through the dealer ?
