This was how it shook out for me too…..first blush “too expensive, way overpriced”. But when I became skittish about buying a diesel and took a detailed look at what you get in a 392 I realized the true difference was close to a wash, now that discounts are equal.Priced diesel & 392, a diesel with all the same options as standard on the 392 plus tow and SOT for both, added the cost of a lift and beadlock capable wheels to the diesel price (not including labor) ~$5K difference before labor and still no water diverting scooped hood, reinforced frame, fox shocks, 4 Auto TC, or V8 Muscle Car performance. Delighted with the 392! ? Disclaimer— mpg sucks, cost not included……But SPG more than compensates ? Edit— a 470hp 5200lb JLU is far from overkill IMHO. (I know overkill, ~700HP CJ5)
