-2f in Detroit this am. Remote start cranked but no start.

Got in hit the button, long crank no start error message that starter needed a 90 second rest so it wouldn't get damaged.

This happened 2x. Tried warming glow plugs. Still lots of cranking then it finally started.

Was at a hotel so had no where to plug in block heater.

Does anyone not have a TPMS warning right now? :)

Are you all using an antigell additive for your diesel?

Plug it in? Are you thinking everyone has a block heater and are always somewhere with an available outlet?

It stopped being an option before I bought mine in 2022. You'd have to install it afterwards. E.g. like @Brad Hearing (in Canada) is probably / hopefully doing now.

I had to shoot a bunch of ether into my Detroit this morning to get it started that's part of it when it's this cold.

I'd bet your battery/batteries are getting weak. If it ever doesn't start on your first try with the remote I'd definitely not try again. I carry a jump pack in all my rigs and you probably should too. Anyhow I'd let the glow plug do it's thing 2 or 3 times in a row and then go for a start.

Just replaced both batteries 5 days ago in anticipation of the cold snap. -2 in an open parking lot all night really does a lot to 9 quarts of oil and diesel fuel.

Huh that's odd then. I just started ours recently not plugged in at -15 or so and no issues.

Mine didn’t come with a block heater. I added it after. It kind of sucked to do though
