The jist, 1year old eco diesel wrangler with 5,000 miles. Battery voltage is 12.3, drained fuel water separator, won’t start with fob, push start button and struggling to start but will eventually start. Ambient temperature 98deg humidity above 70%. Any ideas why my beloved 3.0 eco diesel is struggling to start?? Thanks

Although it doesn’t sound like the battery
I would Test the battery at Auto Zone or someplace
I think it's free? At least couldn't hurt?

This is normal after draining the fuel/water separator the fuel system can lose its prime. The same thing happened when I changed my fuel filter for the first time. The proper procedure is to cycle the push button twice to "ON" about 30 seconds each time. Here is an excerpt from the manual:

Jeep did not service us well on battery issues this will not help at all. To get to the auxiliary secondary smaller battery on the bottom Is a horrendous task your local autozone cannot test that lower battery.

If you didn't have the issue before changing the fuel filter it is definitely air in the line. There's a few YouTube videos on this very same thing. Best is to push the start button without putting the foot on the brake AT LEAST "10 times" Each time close and open the door. Each and every time you will hear the fuel pump running let it run 10 to 15 seconds each time. Most cases not at all the air will be out you will hear a different tone from the engine. Take it for a light drive around the block. All air should clear when you return. My 1st time I only pushed it 6 times and still it struggled 2 times is a joke.

12.3 volts is 50% discharged. Charge battery and try it, then follow morlan’s advice.
Perfect! Just changed out the battery and presto! Thanks also the old battery (1year) was at 11.3v at change out
