I contacted Jeep and there going to give me a rental once the parts are ordered and I take it to the dealership since the dealership I have to go to doesn’t have rentals. Jeep also tokI have an 08 and just left them. No issue other than looks, but over time the other scars of use kind of mask it.
Yea they most likely are going to replace all the hinges and doors when I take it to the dealership I have a Jeep claim open just in case, but Jeep told me they most likely will agree with me and replace everything cause if they don’t I know what will happen. It's not different metals. The hinges and doors are both aluminum as is the hood. The zinc shim was added to the hinges as a sacrificial anode to delay the corrosion spreading to the doors. Too early to tell how effective it will be. I'd check the inside seam on the bottom of your doors and hood for signs of corrosion because that's where it starts before it eventually spreads to the outside of the panel. Once there is corrosion in the hem flange, there is no repairing it, the panel needs to be replaced as per the TSB
