Jumped into my '18 JL but in doing so, moved the steering wheel about a half turn. No column lock.

I'm old. So is this a thing since the pushbutton start or was it de-contented like so much?

I hadn’t realized we don’t have it - weird!

and also I should’ve realized given my toddler loves play pretending to drive by moving the wheel around (don’t panic - the Jeep is off and safely parked when she does that!)

Many new vehicles still have it. The JL doesn’t for reasons unknown.
It's one of the reasons that JL's are one of the few vehicles that are ideal to flat-tow behind an
RV.

Most vehicles that don't have a steering column ignition switch don't have a column lock. Not sure I'd trust an electronic steering lock. It's one thing for your shifter or even transmission (stupid park lock! ) to get locked while moving, but steering would be bad news.
