Just got mine back from the dealer. They said they checked out everything. The U joint and the rear are supposedly perfect. They said the nkisenisnthe clutch plate when the accelerator is not engaged. But it sounds rotational. Atleast I have a paper trail now.

From my general observation about this noise is, that it is only in Sahara's and Sports. I don't think a Rubicon owner has related to this issue. I could be wrong.
I have a 2019 JLUR. Mine just started having the clunking at about 2000 miles. Add to my list of issues. When dropping off at the dealership today I checked 4 others that were brand new. None were like this. (2 Rubicon, sport and Sahara.)

I just picked up my Jeep yesterday. They ordered pinion and side gears. Backordered. May need axle shafts if damaged once they dismantle and install the bearings. Is your clunking more prevalent in the second and third gear, when you're on and then release the throttle, and then the clunk?

Hope it goes well for you. Good Luck!

Mine is usually always in second gear to first gear no throttle. Usually the loudest between 20 and 10mph. I'll have to upload my diagnoses. They say it is the clutch plate and it's a normal noise as the other JLs they tested had the same noise. They had it for over a week and found nothing supposedly. I don't buy it but I'll wait till something breaks and I'm seriously injured to sue them.

I'm not 100% positive, but would guess that yes most of the time it's in 2nd or 3rd gear. first noticed it downhill in traffic at about 10mph when coasting, so I would guess it was not in first.

I was just glad I was able to see others on the lot that were not doing that. hard to argue that it's normal when new ones on their lot don't do it.

I have the same noise when im decelerating with no throttle at low speeds. I thought it was coming from my right front wheel but that video sounds identical. Is this normal?

A little movement is normal. I had mine re geared to 5.13's and does not have that much play. Maybe half of that but I can still hear a clunk when accelerating sometimes.

To test the backlash more accurately did you put the transfer case in neutral?

My issue is similar.
I noticed it the most in 4L while my front front sway bar is physically disconnected. I was at an off road park, fyi
In 4H the number of "clunks" was fewer.
The clunking happens when I go over bumps / articulate the front suspension. The clunking seems to be coming from the front driver side

I've noticed this noise too. I only get it during a quick stop at a light or stop sign and then anymore more than a slight throttle right away. I'm assuming / hoping it's just the lash people are talking about.

Just in case you are not aware. This thread is more extensive about the clunking and fixes that have occurred.

That thread actually led me here, lol. Mine has had a clunk for quite awhile now. I like your observation on it not being related to any Rubicon models. Could be related to Dana 44's with LSD in sports? Who knows. Mine isnt ALWAYS there, it seems to come and go. It sounds like something binding in the suspension to me. I used to only get it when taking off a certain way, now I get it while letting on and off of the gas in multiple gears so whatever it is it's gotten a bit worse.

I have the same issue. Mine occurs during rapid acceleration mainly when turning at the same time. I have a Sahara with the Dana 44. It occasionally happens at traffic lights but usually only when pulling out of parking spots or accelerating when in a turning lane. Anyone else experience this?
