There are four recessed T40 bolts, two on either side of the upper windshield (inside the cabin). They tend to work loose and cause mysterious rattles. The wrench in the green canvas Jeep tool kit will fit. Take a moment and tighten yours.

I had to tighten the bolts 2 or 3 times. The last time I used a tiny bit of blue thread locker on the bolts and they have not loosened up again. Tightening did eliminate a rattle that had been around for a while. The center bolts always remained tight but the outside bolts are the ones that loosened up a number of times.

Checked and mine were tight, but me moving the visor broke the damn thing to access the middle bolts :facepalm:

Can someone send a picture pls?
It's easier to verbally orient you. Facing your rear view mirror, one of the bolts is 6" from the upper left corner of the mirror, towards the ten o'clock position. It's surrounded by body color paint. Now that you know what you're looking for, the other three are easy to find.

Same here. I dropped it to give the whole Jeep a good cleaning after a few days of toppless doorless dusty trails, they were a little loose from the factory.

@rickinAZ

Remembered your / this thread yesterday when I had a T40 in my hand... I was installing a set of Oracle flush mounts on a guy's JL... the white tail light screw is T40..

I walked across the garage to my JL and checked each windshield bolt... The one bolt closet to the passenger side window was really loose and the other three were very tight. Of course, I tightened the one and will re-check all occasionally.

I checked the guy's JL and it's windshield bolts were all tight..

Thanks for the heads up on checking the 4 windshield bolts for tightness..

lol thanks for the heads up. I've never checked mine, but one of the plastic screws on the cover for the adaptive cruise control sensor box is always coming loose.
