It's getting hot outside. Wait. It's already hot.

My 2024 Rubicon X was not cooling the cabin very well over the holiday weekend.

My compressor kept shutting off and interior temperatures were in the low 90s.

Air for from vents was very poor.

My Jeep has 12000 miles on it. It's not even a year old.

I checked the cabin Air filter and this is what I found:

The amount of dirt in there was impressive.

Replaced filter and all is back to new operation, cold and plenty of air flow.

Anyways, just a friendly reminder, change your filter and your AC will work much better.

Jeep says every 10000 miles if in severe conditions, otherwise 15k to 30k. I think I'm going to change it every oil change after seeing this.

When I lived I Utah I changed mine every 10K miles along with the air filter. I will do that again when I move back next week.

Mine did the same thing. Ac was always weak. Replaced it and like a new ac system again. Now i have K&N reusable filter.

Super fine granite dust dirt roads here, I pull mine and blow it out with the air compressor after about every other trip. Thanks for the reminder.

Update. It was dirty as shit!

I think mine takes the cake. Just swapped it today, 37k miles including multiple Moab (and other off-roading) trips. Disgusting, and embarrassing.

A/C blows cold and strong again though, thanks for the reminder OP.

At the end of pollen season for me. NC pollen is crazy, but the end of the big stuff is a great reminder to change the cabin filter.

Good call. NW Florida I get fine white sand and heavy pine/live oak pollen. Probably a good idea to get a reusable filter that can be cleaned.

I don’t put a mileage or time on my cabin filter. Anytime I get the ashtray smell when first turning on the AC it’s time to change the cabin filter. Or after a long day off road in the desert the air and cabin filter get looked at/changed.

This pic is after one off road trip in the desert. Cabin air filter is much dirtier.

Today we drove down to Laughlin, Nevada for some jet ski fun. 120F (48.8 C) and it was a very comfortable ride with the AC on working perfectly. Treat your jeep & gear well and it pays off.
