Cell phone mount recommendations

Just installed the cmm a few weeks ago, mainly for off doors mirrors but I love it for the cell phone too. I stalled them on the top of the grab handle. Great location for the phone. Out of the way but easy access and visibility for driving.

Wife has 67 designs rail . I have Vector bar. The 67 designs rail vibrates some offroad. The Vector bar is solid.

I've had various RAM pieces for quite a while. Didnt want to buy a new mount yet, so I'll give this location a shot. Screw bites into the rubber pad location hole a little deeper. Stacked some washers to raise the ball a bit.

I have the rugged ridge version with built in QI wireless charging. The wires are hidden in the dash, and connected to a auxiliary switch. Looks almost stock. Great for trail videos. I can turn on/off with factory switch. This picture is not mine.

Thanks for the inspiration guys! Have mine setup with backside facing my leg so I can utilize the velcro that was already on the front of the case. I took the flap and just pushed it inside, so I can slide the phone in and out easily. Used another velcro strip stuck to the console side. USB wire comes from the center console run along the side of the seat. Setup for A-Audio/Carplay connection, no need for me to see phone screen. Pretty clean.

Hi. Looking for any “life tested” cell phone holder/mount recommendations. I see too many that are big and bulky that mount on the dash. I have a cheaper plastic one from another vehicle that clips on the vent which I like, but it gets a bit flimsy on the JL vent. Thx

I’m super stoked for my 1st owned jeep to arrive — and I’m in the same predicament. I do not want anything mounted on the dash, obstructing the view and the vent mount my husband has in his jeep is horrible and wobbly. What did you decide on? Thx

Never got one. I got tired of nothing fitting except for big and bulky setups. Still using my old one. I’ll probably start searching again and bite the bullet on a more expensive sleek setup if I can.

These are neat since they can be jammed between seat and console (I had to remove the pipe insuation I used to block things from falling into oblivion). I have the dash mounted one too. You can buy different length arms that swivel and place at just the right angle. Using one with my phone's powered dock that powers via phone's pogo pins--which leaves USB port of phone out of the mix.

With the RAM Mount arms that grab the end of a ball, you can maneuver much like a goose neck lamp and place somewhere away from the window/ vent/ radio. You could even attach to the inflatable console one in my link and aim it into back seat area to be out of the way yet secure.

I bought a Ram Mount setup. The rail mounts to the dash and then you attach an arm and then the cell phone holder. Ended up not liking it. Too much vibration and dislike having stuff block my view. And I had to buy one part on Amazon, one at Northridge. Another at Ram and they rape you on shipping. Northridge was good.

Out of curiousity, why isn't Carplay adequate in lieu of having your cellphone front and center? Seems like a much cleaner solution. My cellphone stays in my pocket and I can access what I need easily from the 8.4" screen.

Depends on what all you are trying to display… especially offroad. Off-road pages on your 8.4in screen gives you temp gauges, pitch and roll, etc. Or maybe you want an off-road map.

Here is my latest setup. I get the OP wanting a clean, non bulky set up but I find the 67designs very adaptable/convertible depending on your situation. I convert from a daily to an off-road setup often.

I recently added a knuckle and their shortest arm to lower the phone from my field of view thru the windshield. Also added one of their 3D printed brackets for my iPad. A bit in your face but until I buy an iPad mini. Note the OEM screen does not allow full function or show the details of GaiaGPS maps thus the ‘need’ for another larger than the iPhone.

Another vote for Offroam. This vent mount isn’t the usually plastic vent mount. It’s aluminum and clamps to the vent surround and is solid. MagSafe attachment makes mounting/detaching the iphone super easy.
