I am debating getting this fender mounted jerry can holder for my Jeep.

Apparently you can fit two Rotopax in one jerrycan slot.

That solution would be OK for Overlanding.. but for rock crawling in tight spaces they seem way too exposed IMHO

My preferred alternative and the one I use is the spare tire mount with the heavy-duty ratchet strap.. easy to install and remove..

An option that I haven't seen mentioned is AEV's fuel caddy. 10.2 gallons and tucks behind the spare. My JLURD (whenever it gets built) will come with that plus the rest of their JL370 stuff. It might require their bumper, but I'm not sure. If so it'd be pretty expensive.

I carry the Rockslide engineering Rotopax mount on my spare with two 2 gal units and if I need more I have a 3gal Rotopax on the roof rack

It is a TeraFlex Hi-Lift Jack and Rotopax mount. It hi-lift bracket attaches to the tailgate hinges and the Rotopax mount bracket attaches to the Hi-Lift jack cast iron bar. Purchased from Amazon.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the Drago mount. It is quite expensive and it was hard to hit the checkout button. I’m surprised no other company has developed a similar solution. It is only for the Mopar hinge reinforcement though. Retrofit off-road has a decent mounting option as well.

Fuel inside isn't a good idea unless the doors and top are removed. My 2024 2 door Willys has a 17.5 gallon fuel capacity providing a 260 to 320 mile range. Two 2.5 gallon FuelpaX will provide a 75-90 mile range improvement @ 15-18 mpg. FuelpaX are $75 ea. Rock Slide EZ Rack Kit is $102. Total cost $250 +. There has to be a better, less costly way to off road safely and improve your range. Any other thoughts?

On the Rubicon trail, where there are periods of idling, very slow crawling, etc., average mileage can to the low single digits.

I recently built this fuel can bracket for a 4 gal Rotopax. I also bought a rear side window/gutter mount that will hold another 4 gal Rotopax. I don't know where I'll use them, except one 4 gal for the Dusy-Ershim trail.

Noted. Most off road use would require less preparation. I suspect the described situation is definitely a higher challenge
