Several times over the past month when I start my JL i'm not getting back up camera or maps. Then after a while when I restart the Jeep it's there. Any thoughts?
interesting thought haven't thought of that
Lets see what happens the nest few days
I have an appt with dealer wednesday for a replacement part and will ask
Hi stoowie,
We understand how this would be frustrating. Once you've had your appointment, send us a private message and let us know what your dealers thoughts were. We would be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Iā€™m pretty convinced itā€™s hardware. Bad hub connections, like others have reported (shorting of wires, and then the Jeep ā€œkillsā€ that connection for a bit for safety purposes.
I was having similar problems to you iphone users with Android Auto (constant phone disconnects, 8 hour road trips my uconnect would connect to the phone for maybe 2-3 hours max). I tried a bunch of usb cables/ports. THe port in the arm rest was more reliable but still problematic. I tried a usbc to usbc cable (in the main outlet) and it works perfectly now. Connects faster than micro to usbc did on its best days.

Hey,,
to add to the mystery of Apple phones and UConnect, I am having the same problems.
At first Carplay works, then it doesnt recognize the phone is plugged in..
My partner connected his phone,, only to have Carplay work correctly.

I got a new iphone XS and still the problem happens...sometimes the phone is recognized and voila - Carplay comes on screen, ..and then another time I plug my phone in, and wait and wait, no Carplay.

And my phone charges while plugged into the usb in the console.

Very frustrating.

When you plug your phone isn is it charging? If not perhaps your charging wire is broke

FWIW, Iā€™m adding to the USB issue knowledge base here, in hopes of all of us gaining a better idea as to whatā€™s going on & hopefully coming up with a fix procedure when this does happen. Unfortunately, I canā€™t offer a fix, but wanted to relay my recent experiences in hoes that it will help:

So, 2018 JLUR, built sometime in June. No issues with usb connectivity or car play (everything worked just great) until yesterday, when all four usb outlets became totally inoperable. By this, I mean that car play would not come up on uconnect when my iPhone X was plugged in to any of the USB outlets, not were any of the usb outlets (front and rear) energized to charge devices, etc. They were all illuminated, but otherwise dead.

While it could be coincidental, this occured just after a family road trip, during which my wife charged her Samsung device on the 110 outlet, and both kids had devices charging in the rear usb outlets at some point. Neither of the two front usb (dash and console) was in use at all during the trip.

I tried deleting & re-pairing my iPhone, but this did not work. I determined that the cord was good. I tried plugging in my device at different time intervals, relative to when I started the Jeep - no difference.

While this might also be coincidental, my USBs all came back to life AFTER I tested my 110 connection with a 110-to-usb charger, connected to my iPhone. That worked without issue, and immediately after, all the usb outlets worked normally again, and uconnect recognized my phone as a car play device.

Iā€™m saying this is a fix - just my experience to add.

I meant to say Iā€™m NOT saying this is a fix. Sorry about the typos.

Iā€™m having the exact same issue! New iPhone XS works sometimes and not others. I just did the IOS update hoping that would clear things up but no luck. Seems to only work after the vehicle sits off for 12hrs plus. Tried forgetting device on vehicle and hard resets on iPhone. What is really strange is you can still make phone calls (not through CarPlay) but cannot play music at all. Even if trying to use bluetooth. Really frustrating.

I have experienced this issue. What has worked for me so far is putting the iPhone in Airplane mode. Then taking it back out of airplane mode. Why this affects CarPlay, I have no idea. But it's worked every time so far.

It's funny, CarPlay is supposed to help us keep our eyes on the road and fingers on the wheel. Instead, we're fumbling around with USB ports and buggy apps and such. WHAT THE HECK!

Yep, had this exact situation happen to me on a road trip with everything plugged in. I found out the problem occurred when something other than an Android or iPhone was plugged in. Almost every time I'd plug in my Garmin Inreach or Fenix it would disable all the USB ports. So, I had to buy a multi USB wall charger for those devices. I was having similar problems with the iPad on iPhone plugged in, but once I switched to official cables, that went away.

I'm taking mine into the dealer tomorrow. I'm sure they won't be able to fix this properly. I'm hoping they can figure out why the interior USB port keeps dropping connection.
