CarPlay disappeared

I have a 23 wrangler. Recently, CarPlay stopped connecting automatically when I plugged my IPhone in. I tried a new cable and switching from the armrest usb to the media usb and neither worked.

Then, I was trying to move the CarPlay app from the second app screen to the first and it disappeared. It’s gone. I reset the settings back to factory on the head unit and restarted my phone and that didn’t help. How can I reinstall CarPlay?

Try this...

Assure that you are using a healthy/ known to be a good, proper/correct, USB cable.

In UConnect, go to "Projection Manager" and remove any and all devices listed there. Now, re-pair your iphone.

Just want to help clarify a bit, CarPlay is not an App and cannot be updated independently like an app by you, the user. CarPlay is a built in feature of iOS, the operating system that runs the iPhone.

The second half about deleting the devices from the Jeep is spot on and the first troubleshooting step.

@AOBE on your iPhone, you can then go to Settings->General->CarPlay and you will see a list of all the cars that have been paired to your iPhone via CarPlay. You can remove the Uconnect entry listed there and the pairing should start fresh the next time you plug the iPhone into the Jeep.

If this doesn't fix it, make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS and try a brand new Apple branded cable for connection.

Before you try the above, you can try bringing up the Power Off slider on your iPhone, shut it down by using the slider, wait a minute and turn it back on by holding the power button. If your iPhone does not get turned off/restarted properly often, it may exhibit random issues like this from time to time.

Bought my 23 Wrangler back in January.
I've had Carplay fail on me twice.

My fix both times was to turn the Jeep off, unplug the fuse that controls USB power.
Start the Jeep.
Wait a moment.
Shut it back down till the dash shuts off (opening and closing the door helps)
Plug the fuse back in and awayyyy you go.

Also if I plug in my phone before starting the Jeep it's more likely to have issues launching carplay. But if I plug in after the Jeep is already started it works pretty flawlessly.

Good thought but same phone. Tried multiple cables. It works with another iPhone I use, so it’s the phone at this point. Making progress.

Toss the iPhone and get an android, haha. Kidding of course, I just updated to Android 14 and I'm having issues too. Ya gotta love updates that screw up half your apps.

So something that has been working for me and my IPhone 15. Whenever my Jeep is not recognizing the iPhone, I unplug the cable from the iPhone, lock the screen so nothing is showing. Once the screen is black on the phone, I plug the cable back into the phone and a few seconds later, Apple Car Play comes on. Worked every time so far me so far. Hope this helps others with the issue!

I've had problems with dust and dirt getting into the connection ports making connection unreliable. Try blowing out the ports (on both the phone and the jeep) with with compressed air or one of these:

I have the iPhone 15Pro and CarPlay so far has worked flawlessly just as the iPhone 12Pro before it did. Maybe an issue with that specific phone?
