I think I screwed my jeep up. I had it re-geared to 488 gears I run 35 inch
Nitto Ridge grappler the people who re-geared it had me use Flashcal F5 to tune it. I have reset it multiple times and I either have very aggressive down shifts or I can’t even hit eighth gear. I have a 4 inch lift I have no idea what to do

I’d suggest getting 37-38” tires with the 4.88 gearing. Also, take it back to the shop that did the work or to another gear shop anf get their input.

use this calculator to see if your rpms are matching what they should..make sure you are imputing the correct numbers in for tire size and gear ratios. tire size will not be what is printed on them but actual size. your 35's are actually probably closer to 33.5-33.75

am I understanding you correctly, it wont pull 8 th gear ?
something is definitely wrong. I had 4.88s with 35s on my last jeep.
there was zero issues with pulling hi gear.
makes me wonder , do you really have 4.88s or did the shop put in something else by mistake.

What do you mean by or? It varies??? Based on changes to FlashCal or something else?

I have measured them the tires to be 34 inches horizontally and still I have the same issue. Do you think that I may have selected the wrong gear ratio for my tires? Maybe I should’ve went with 456 instead of 488

yes, it seems like every time I reset it back to stock and then re-enter the information it relearns a different way like almost every time

When I reset it, I tried to clear all the memory in the jeeps computer and re-enter Flashcal information the same as I did all the times before and still it relearns differently . one time I was able to get all gears, but the down shifts were so aggressive that it would push me forward as I was slowing down and that can’t be right

There is a power train formula that Mopar uses to determine the proper gear sets for your Jeep year and model with the various tire sizes. If my memory serves me right, running with 35s, 4.56 gear set was the most appropriate gear set to run with a 23 Wrangler 3.6L e-Torque Automatic. My Wrangler factory gear set is 4.10 so the 4.56s are not much of a change so I did not change my gears when I went to 35s.

I believe someone posted that power train formula on this forum a couple years ago.

4.56 or 4.88, either way it should not be a issue.
4.88s are fine . i would think its either a flashing problem or I would bet you dont have 4.88s for whatever reason.

There's simply not a huge difference between 4.56 and 4.88. Most people would not be able to tell the difference by seat of pants feel between the two. Did you notice any of these issues before you changed parameters with the Flashpaq? Did you actually drive it after the gear swap and before changing the parameters? Really sounds like some sort of programming issues.

Thanks guys for all your input. The shop that did the regear has said that the flash did not take for some reason. So I will be getting a new tuner.

Why a tuner? What year and engine.

Not going into 8th is definitely a controller issue.
