Ill say this tho....prime and paint (something soooo simple) in between the hinge and door would of made a world of a difference.
Some how on 50-60k Jeep, that was too much to ask for.
But I guess if you buy and take ownership you could get a Certifed aluminum shop to do that for you

not that you should have too. Just a thought
Do you think removing the hinges to do that would mess up the paint job??? That's the real question

The only thing it would ā€œmess upā€ is the paint of the Bolts.

but again... a certified shop thatā€™s dealt with this would have some ideas
There are some after market hinges and bolts out there. (I think bolts are plain matte black) so there is options to get around this some how.

just some ideas here

I have a (very) pampered 2019 JLUR and have started seeing this problem on 2 of the four doors. Looks like the hood hinge is starting too. I check every time I hand wash it (never been machine washed), and they popped up fast. I have no idea how FCA can charge close to $60K for a vehicle knowing that there is a good chance that there will be corrosion issues within two years (less for some). I love this Jeep more than any vehicle that I have owned, but perhaps I am the fool for buying it. I am going to go to the dealer this week, but I know it will be an uphill battle. And to be honest, after hearing the nightmare stories about getting doors repainted, I am having second thoughts about that as well. Increasingly aggressive corrosion or mismatched color/overspray on the doors? Why do I have to make that choice less than two years in?

I echo your sentiments 100%. Exactly how I feel on all fronts.
I became aware of this due to this thread so Iā€™ve been keeping an eye on this since last fall/winter. There were no signs then untill about early June this year after a wash, I seen a rear passenger hinge.
I choose to wait due to the many stories of re occurrence and horrible ā€œfixesā€ from shops mentioned in this thread.

So far Iā€™m glad I did, as Iā€™ve now seen it apper (tonight actually, I check every week) on front door itā€™s beginning to happen, and possibly other rear door.

So if I had the ā€œfixā€ done to that door early summer Iā€™d already be set for a second trip.

donā€™t understand how FCA KNOWS this is an issue and does NOTHING about it....honestly not even an attempt?

seriously even trying something would at least show the consumer they are trying to rectify this. Yes I get the ā€œcostā€ to change an assembly process....but surely this isnā€™t saving them any money.
Much like the way the corrosion grows...so has this thread with new members quite quickly in the past few months.

Good afternoon Mike,

We hear your concerns about the hinge corrosion and are glad that you've set up an appointment with your dealer to have this addressed. If you'd like, we can escalate a case to Jeep Wave Specialists on your behalf while your vehicle is at the dealer. If you would like additional assistance, please feel free to send our team a private message with your current mileage, VIN, and preferred dealer.

Thanks!

Obviously I am concerned this might happen to my Jeep. That said none of us know if this is an occasional thing or widespread. Perhaps you should find a dealer with 2018 and 2019 wranglers and check it out for yourself. I would not be optimistic that a first year Ford product will be problem free....I would bet the opposite.
Ok, so I am at the dealership now (another one, since the people at the first one could not care less) and I'll check some on the lot.
However, I was traveling this weekend and at the airport I have checked 7 wranglers.
5 of them were rental, 2 of them were in the parking lot.
The rentals were all 2020 and each and every one of them had this issue. one was really bad, the others were not that bad.
The ones on the parking lot were a Sport and a Rubi, no idea what year, but classic colors so they could be 2018 and up.
My father in-law acutally owns a 2020 Gladiator Launch edition, he had it for over a year (ordered it the first day they started accepting orders) and nothing, nada, not a single chip, no issues with his car.
So I have no idea...

It will be a uphill battle believe me and never match. If mine bubbles it's gone. As you have stated paying this kind of money it should never happen. I won't look at a checker Board on the side of my Jeep . FCA needs to tighten up their QC !

Anyone have any experience with hinge and door panel repaint at Quirk in Marshfield or Quincy, MA? Taking my 2019 Rubicon in today for my last free oil change and tire rotation. They will be documenting my door hinge corrosion for warranty submittal. They say they do the repair in the Quincy paint shop. I'm pretty nervous that this won't end well. For the first time I'm doubting keeping this long term as planned.

@JeepCares Dealer looked at my corrosion yesterday and took photos of the areas I noted. Top hinges on the front doors were the worst with corrosion on both the hinge and doors. Got the classic "we haven't see this on the JLs, the JKs had corrosion issues" Funny thing is I looked at several used JKs on the lot and none of them had any corrosion...They said they will file this with Jeep as a warranty request and they will get back to me...I really really don't want to have these doors repainted. I just have an awful feeling about paint matching or blending (Ocean Blue). This isn't going to end well.

Did you look at any of the JLā€™s on the lot? The JK issue was much much easier, only the hinges (that you could easily replace) would get this problem. Not spread to the door and what not.
I call BS that they havenā€™t seen this.

Show them the TSB and Tell them it doesnā€™t matter if youā€™ve seen it or not FCA is aware of it (not that they change there production to rectify a known issue) SMH

nonetheless there is a TSB out for it.
I documented it also with my dealer yesterday....I did so with the sales manager (whoā€™s great) via email with pics and description. As the service manager there could careless...imagine that, having a job and not caring to do it and still have said job. (And all I asked him to do was take pics and document it. Pretty simple, but nah! Wish @JeepCares could help myself but Iā€™m in Toronto,Canada so donā€™t think itā€™s possible. Although the sales manager there did say heā€™s having it documented immediately and speaking to the service manager. (Heā€™s actually awesome)
Either way, Iā€™m with you. Ill see how it all progresses as the areas have have moved pretty slowly. And Iā€™m not really into this re paint on a new truck that will almost for sure look like a$$ and wonā€™t be fixed properly.
But hey FCA donā€™t even attempt a fix. And half these dealers could careless.
this is my first Jeep of what I hoped of many more down after. But sh*t that happens and deal with a company/some dealers where they donā€™t seem to care.
That just makes the issue worse!

Just got my 2018 2 DR Rubicon (Black) back from having this rectified at Coastline Jeep in SJC, CA. Both doors and the hood had hinges replaced and were repainted. Looks like the body shop they use did a nice job and the service dept. was very caring and professional. Happy with the results, hopefully its a "one "n" done" procedure!!!

Do you have a link for the TSB?
