I haven't 100% decided yet, but I am definitely leaning Bronco at this time.

I would have already bought a JL if not for the issues. I even rented one for four days and the steering was horrendous. Their response and lack of an apparent across the board solution has kept me at bay.

The Bronco, if sized well for my 6'6" frame and my kids, will win my money.

I have owned a YJ, a TJ, and a Grand Cherokee so it's not like I haven't been a Jeep guy.

FCA better seriously step up their game.

I was ready to jump ship. I've got an 18K mile JL that will need a clutch before long and decided to reserve a Bronco. Then while I was trying to get on the website to reserve, I found out the 2 door was not available with a soft top. Crazy!

Perhaps, I will need to go back a 3rd time for the clutch recall. I've done the 4K dump the clutch test twice now and it has failed when I do it. Oddly, it seems to pass for the dealer.

In fact, Ford probably has one of the worst records with all-new vehicle launches among the Big 3.

Following the launches of Fusions, Escapes and F-Series, Ford issued recalls due to fire risk multiple times between 2012 and 2019.

It’s a Ford thing...
And Jeep has done a stellar job in the last 3 years with the wrangler with frame welds, steering issues, and electronics reliability...

Looks like the 2-door Bronco is a bigger vehicle than the 2-door Wrangler. Whether it is a significant difference is up to the viewer, but I think about 5" length (~4" wheelbase), and 2" width increase for the Bronco explains some of the added rear capacity (plus Ford is probably a bit more clever/efficient with design). Also looks like stock the Jeep has more ground clearance and better trail angles - though the Bronco gets an extra 3" in water fording depth :)

Still doesn't have a lot of love from this house, but competition is certainly healthy. I hope the Bronco is really good out of the gate. If it is I think we all win.

It appears better initial quality is only marginally better than Jeep - both are below average....probably a bit of a crap shoot either way...
Your post is spot on. Jeepers crapping on Ford's reliability (and vice versa) has the kettle/black thing going.

I am not sold on storing the doors in the back, but can see it may have some use cases and will be watching how it works long-term.

I lean the 2 front freedom panels against a tree till I return. No, I am not being silly, I actually do this.

No, Jeep hasn't. But Ford offers nothing better in terms of quality.

That man is 5’10” for reference.
somebody had mentioned the proportions appearing off, too much body, and I never saw it till this picture.

can this guy even see over the dash?
I would think so. The driver’s seat is pushed back and lower. This individual in the photo may not have been driving - instead just posing for a picture. Also, keep in mind that this Bronco has a 2” lift and 37” tires which is different than what Ford showed to the world yesterday.
I guess that explains why no one had time to check the robots welding the frames.
The original footage is from more than a decade ago. The frames you speak of aren’t even sheet metal yet.
End of the day a new girl in a hot dress has shown up to the ball, but the gal I'm currently with is pretty awesome too...
If you don’t like the girl under the hot dress, the hot dress doesn’t matter.
My dealer sells Ford's and Jeeps, how is that going to work out ?
Your dealer is a very, very smart man. When the Ford needs to be towed to the dealer, he can take it as a trade in for a Wrangler.

The Ford webiste has a note under every photo that says Mid-2021 availability. I would be surprised if they are at dealerships in April. The "sport" version will be available much earlier though.
You are mistaken. The reviews online speak of an April 2021 production start.

According to https://www.ford.com/suvs/bronco/2021/ "Bronco available beginning spring 2021." and https://media.ford.com/content/ford...two-door-and-first-ever-four-door-models.html, " The all-new Bronco re-enters the scene with an all-4x4 lineup with production beginning in early 2021 and first models arriving in Ford dealerships next spring." If they start production in April I highly doubt they would be in showrooms by spring of 2021. I'll go with manufacturer published info before I go with review sites for now.

So is there an extra low gear option in the auto that's locked out if not in 4wd, or does the smaller engine only benefit from a granny gear? Seems like a pretty poor option if it's the latter.....
It's in the manual 7 speed. Great crawl ratio but sad only for base engine

Or they are basicly fed up with issues with chrysler.... crappy service crappy reliability etc etc.

Is Ford any better... i don't know.

Good thing I'm not in a position to have to (or be able) to choose.
Time will tell. Like I said hopefully a lot will shake out after a few yrs of these being on the road.

The dealer is allowed to negotiate the price. The $100 deposit is just to hold your place. If there is a large demand for the first edition the dealer will take the best offer. Just like a house when there are multiple offers above list. There is another post that points out the finer points of the reservation and anyone who put $100 is not guaranteed a vehicle, but you do get the opportunity to work with the dealer to reach an agreement with the buyer.

See this thread for more clarification and the fine print

Tesla is different in that the $100 deposit on the Cyubertruck did guarantee price and Full Self Driving package price.
Not too worried, if they try to push for a premium I'm sure I can find someone to buy my position. Did the same with the Model 3 twice.

I've made my opinion clear on the 392 Concept in that thread. It would be nice, but it's likely just another pipe dream. I think that Jeep could have easily stepped up and just put 35's and 4.56s on the Recon and Mohave to put this issue to bed. That is really the only thing that the Bronco has over the Wrangler for off road performance.
I have an insiderat Jeep (engineer) who let me know the 392 is real and he is on the list to grab one as soon as they are out.

I think Jeep has to do a lot more than 35’s and a rehear to overcome the options and capabilities of this Bronco.

Many people have pointed out that factory base options for each flavor is front and rear did locks, this is where Jeep needs to go. Make it standard on every model. I also think Jeep should use the M210 Dana for every Jeep model front and rear standard. We know they are good and the Dana30’s range have weaknesses for off-roading. Jeep needs to look at their standard options and make some changes.
