Broken into - sliced soft top

Ugh. After an 8 month wait for my order which just arrived in March, my Besttop soft top was already sliced into. Nothing was taken because anything was in the locked glove box or my Tuffy console lockbox (kudos to them).

Anyone know what I’ll be in for here? How hard is it to buy just a window for the besttop trektop? I reached out to them but with it being a weekend I’m just hoping to see if anyone here has an idea, and to share my pain.

Thank god it wasn’t the half door uppers, because I’ve heard those are unobtanium

@Bestop can hopefully hook you up with just selling the window. I imagine this isn’t the first time they dealt with this.

Bestop will undoubtedly sell you a new window. Best bet is to never lock up a convertible..

Be sure to call law enforcement, rightnow.... if you have not called them already ....and have a police report done. Your insurance carrier will want to see a police report.

You may end up having to have your insurance carrier (Home Owner's, Renter's, Auto) cover this loss. Yes, you may pay a deductible.

That sucks. I don’t lock my Jeep, in part to avoid this. I keep nothing of value in it. Also, it’s a manual so I have an extra layer of anti-theft protection.

Hopefully you can get a new window, soon. At least they left it hanging so you can tape it up for now.

To all of the above the answer is YES and YES, been there done that and the window was not CHEAP but not expensive, and it was covered by my insurance company.

Just want to add...

1.) Tuffy console lock box is absolutely worth it. I have it too.
2.) I also leave my jeep unlocked. You want those 10$ sunglasses dude, go ahead.

Yeah, I was able to duct tape it up for now.

Leaving it unlocked I’m torn on. I’d be worried someone would camp in it overnight and it would stink to high heaven. I’ve also heard if the vehicle is stolen while unlocked it isn’t covered, but I’m not sure how anyone would know. Certainly will be tempted if it happens again….

That's a real shame, I'm sorry this happened to you bro! You work hard, buy something nice and someone comes along and destroys it. I feel outraged for you and I mean it!!!! If I had a rubber hose I would be beat that thief!

Sorry to hear!! If they only knew how easy it is to pop the window out.
If it’s the window that came with your jeep Bestop will most likely send you to Jeep parts dept to replace. I had my side window blow out on freeway and when I called Bestop to order a replacement that’s what they did…sent me to jeep. I had to order replacement from jeep parts dept. with taxes cost me $475 and insurance reimbursed me.

FYI, the last time I spoke to Bestop for soft top parts, they said they’re contractually unable to sell me parts for the JL and I’d have have to go through Jeep.

Clear Gorilla tape is water resistant and might look better than duct tape.

This would be the case if the particular soft top........ is branded JEEP .... was a factory install or is sold as a Jeep accessory by a Mopar. The OP's top is branded BESTOP.

Just replace the window, park in the same place, put something valuable looking in there. You and a few friends dress in all black and hide in the bushes. When they come back, ambush them with paintball guns until they fall down then just light them up in the face point blank range for 80-100 rounds. Immediately pour tattoo ink on their face. They'll be nice and bloodied up, shamed to high heaven and will have their face tattooed with welts for days and ink forever.

I challenge your insurance company to come up with a more fun solution than that.
