Thank you for the detailed info Iām going out to check it shortly. I left Jeep home and was gone all day after I had this issue.
Just purchased a new Wrangler JL 2021 and the same thing happened: rear camera suddenly stopped working. Car was only a couple weeks old. Read on another website that it was a common firmware/software issue, and the solution is to simultaneously press & hold the volume button and the tuner buttons for 30 seconds. When released, it will force a reboot of the Uconnect system. It worked for us!!! Less complicated than pulling a fuse.Hi All,
Just this morning my back up camera stopped working.
Whe I shift into Reverse nothing happens on the screen, even when I press the back up camera icon nothing changes.
Anybody had this experience,
will give it another try later today, hopefully it will reset by itself
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.Bought a 2021 JLUR on Friday. Today, hit 270 miles. Backup camera was black this afternoon. Did the soft restart of system (In "run" mode w/o engine running, tuning and volume buttons depressed for 20 seconds, then release. Screen restarts).
After that, worked fine.
*shrugs*

I do plan on taking this to a dealership for the concern, as it has now happened twice (in 400 miles).
Additionally, there's another "concern".
It's off-topic, but now that you've asked about opening a case, I'd like to get both of these resolved as soon as possible.
Item number two is this:
While washing the Jeep today, I noticed a hairline "slit" along the right front fender flair (along the flare's bodyline), which looks like a place where the flare was taped off for painting.
The "slit" is a two-inch long void in the paint, revealing the flare's black plastic.
Now, after seeing it, I see it every time I look at the right side of the Jeep.
Undoubtedly something that slipped by quality control. (zoom in on photo, and you'll clearly see the defect).
COVID strikes again...
Let me know your thoughts.
Kindly,
Scott
I have a 2021 JLUR and the backup camera has gone out 4 times in 2000 miles. It resets with holding the Volume and Tune button trick but why should I have to do that craziness every time I want to put my jeep in reverse. We're sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this concern. Here is what I would like, I would like Jeep to figure out what is going on. I think I may be on to something but I would def. need more data, more info from Jeep, and possibly more info from the people on this thread. Doing some experimentation, I may have come to a theory on this. I have had the camera not come on 4 different times now in 2,000 miles. I think that once it comes on during a drive, it remains on. Has anyone had it go out once it has operated during the same drive/run cycle? Mine has never "gone out" just not worked on initial engagement. I think that each time it does this, I have put it in reverse before the radio, Uconnect has finished syncing. I have noticed that if I let the radio/nav completely sync before putting it in reverse the backup camera works. Anyone else? Could it be that simple? Jeep of course just said "it's working now" and opened a case. I am going to keep an eye on exactly what I am doing and when I do it to see if there is a pattern but I know it can't be that simple lol. I have had many vehicles with backup cameras and this is the only one to ever have an issue like this. Sad at $50k a pop you don't deliver a better product. We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern. I took a screenshot of your solution and will present it to the dealer if this continues. Thanks.I had posted previously about my experience and resolution but below are my responses to your questions.
Has anyone had it go out once it has operated during the same drive/run cycle?
No
Mine has never "gone out" just not worked on initial engagement.
Yup. Mine never worked the first time.
I think that each time it does this, I have put it in reverse before the radio, Uconnect has finished syncing. I have noticed that if I let the radio/nav completely sync before putting it in reverse the backup camera works. Anyone else?Could it be that simple?
I have heard others mention this step but it never worked for me. Since the dealer did what's shown in my previous post, it has worked 100%.
