So why are you getting the “Aux switches unavailable” message? Is it just because your main battery was weak?
The "Aux switches unavailable" message is always due to a weak main battery as reported by the battery sensor that monitors it. The aux battery does not have a battery sensor, just a cold start pass/fail test.

if you have to replace the 48v battery ,any idea what it cost .and is it hard to do?
Someone in the other thread I linked to had said that it was $1,500 to get the Mopar 48 volt battery. I was just looking it up a while ago on Google, where one company has a 48 volt 50 amp hour battery for $750, and another company (Dakota lithium) has a 40 volt 96 amp hour battery for $2,700.

I'm not sure if there are cheaper options out there. However I feel like if you go with an off-brand, you're going to get off-brand quality.

I remember when the eTorque's first came out, I was looking into them because I was wanting to buy my first Wrangler, and after doing quite a bit of research into them, and how the eTorque's worked on the Rams, I decided that it wasn't going to be the engine for me.

It's not true with all things, but if you ever notice most vehicle options they offer on the Wrangler, went through their trial run on the Rams. Seems the 1500 is the bottom bitch in this case. :crying:

This has happened more than a few times on this website……. People realizing that they did not have an auxiliary battery because they didn’t have a e torque and that was the reason why…… including my post about nine months ago…..lol!!!!!!

Awesome wheels and tires. Reminds of the Jeeps that were most commonly seen growing up. Very well done.

So it’s time to replace the batteries- getting the “Aux switches unavailable” message at start-up. Peeled back the fender liner, easily removed the three 10 mm bolts, dropped the unusually light battery tray and behold! There’s no aux battery! No wires dangling, just a nice empty cavity great for hiding valuables. It was at this moment I realized I have eTorque with the 48v battery. I should have know, since I’ve bumped my head on it several times doing other projects. I will happily submit my name for the Jeep dumb-ass competition. So for those of you getting ready to replace batteries, verify your particular set-up and avoid the effort, broken plastic fender liner retainers, and the expense of a cute little $150 AGM battery!
I did the same thing. Got the same warning message, purchased a new auxiliary battery, pulled everything out and found out I don't have an auxiliary battery. Put everything back together (with the same primary battery), returned the auxiliary battery, and haven't had the messages anymore. :computerrage:

When I first purchased my new Wrangler, JLU, I also was not a where regarding the BSG. Since then, I have researched it and found the attached warranty regarding the emissions system of which it is a part. The warranty says it is covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles. If your Jeep is only 4 years old, I would look into the warranty for a new battery. Mine is 2020 and I continue to see about 13.2 volts plus. Take a look at it as it may help with your issue.

I discovered the same thing. I dismantled my fuse box and everything else to access my aux battery and nothing was there! My first words were, WTF? Later, after doing some research, I learned that I have an eTorque engine with the 48v power pack. Called the Jeep dealership (notorious for customer disservice), and they feigned ignornance about any kind of 8 year warranty. So, I guess I'm not the only one who's made this mistake. I sure do feel like a dunce.
