When I select 4.88s it forces me into the 6 speed manual still on the build and price configurator. Weird.
It's kind of finnicky, but it does allow 4.88s with an automatic. Below are two builds that I did just playing around with it. Both are JLURs, not sure if it works with other trim levels. The one requirement that I could figure out is that you can only do this with a 3.6 eTourque. If you select the 2.0l turbo 4 it switches it back to 4.10s.

If the max I’ll ever go is 35s do you all think I should stay with 4.10s or go with 4.88s? If I stay on the stock JLR 33s for a while I don’t want the engine to hate me if the RPMs are too high. Based on the chart I don’t think it would terrible but I’m leaning toward thinking 35s will be my final stop for tire size with a two door…

If i was factory ordering anything, I’d personally chose the lowest set (highest numeric) unless I was particularly concerned with mpg.
I ordered 4.88s my window sticker says 4.88 gears. When I’m doing 70mph on the highway with stock 33” tires I’m turning 2500 rpm. Not 2700 as the chart would suggest. The chart says I’ve got 4.56 gears and not the 4.88s I paid for.

Yeah I "think" one time it worked when I first did it. But then I couldn't get it to do it again. And when I switched engines it subtracted it and then I couldn't get it to go back. Tried to do it all over again and it wouldn't let me every time I tried. Still won't. 🤷‍♂️

Just go to the Canadian build & price tool. You won't get great previews (or really any) but it works pretty darn well!

Do you have a 2 door or a 4 door? Auto or Manual?

Think the chart might be for a JK, so maybe it's a little off compared to the JL? I couldn't find a JL-specific chart for the 3.6L
I was wondering the same. If I could see the RPMs for a JL 8 speed auto with 4.88s it may sell me one way or the other.

Yeah agree, but I'm already in production, so too late for that. Not overly concerned with MPG, but with a noticeable loss of performance. 34-35" on 4.10 should be fine, I think.

Plus, I really don't need 37s for flexing on the water fountain in front of the mall ;)
I have 315/70 17s, a little under 35 and the stock 4.10s handle them fine for where I live in the midwest. I've taken it on a couple trips out West and while not necissarily ideal, it was fine.

So I have a 6MT with stock 4.10s and 315x70 17s, a little under 35s. It does perfectly fine, in fact better than I thought it would. I was really worried at first, but it was all for not. If I lived in the mountains out west I'd probably regear. As it looks right now I'm probably going to 37s with my next set of tires and then I'll go to 4.88s, but until then the 4.10s are perfectly acceptable.
