Why would anyone have touched the pan?
Interesting question, but why wouldn’t they have touched the pan at some level? If they checked the fluid there would be some level of evidence the plug was removed and some fluid residual and if they said “no evidence of contaminants” then I am not sure what they were looking at or where they were looking unless in the pan. Maybe they are more clean and precise checking these things than I am giving them credit for.

I have a 2021 Jeep Rubicon. I started having issues with hard shifting and clunking sound/feeling, especially when shifting from P to R. My jeep now have 20K miles. Also experienced hard shifting and clunking when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear (no gas acceleration. Only when rolling at slow speed, like at parking lots or just starting at slow speed drive, no gas). I dropped it off at the dealer last Tuesday. Got a call this morning. Service Rep said the Tech had to "re-program" something. They asked me to pick it up today. Drive few days and add some miles. If I experience the same symptoms, they asked me to take it back so they can run some diagnostic test again (to see if the same code comes back). If it does, they "may have to" order and replace the valve body.

I can't wait to see what they actually write down on the work order document when I pick it up tonight..

The check plug isn't on the pan. One squirt of brake cleaner and the one tiny droplet running down the side is gone.

Yeah, I’m sure this is the protocol. They’ll go thru this with every Wrangler having this issue.

1) Reprogram
and if that doesn’t work…
2) Valves
and if that doesn’t work…
3) New transmission
Then it’s fixed (according to people in this thread)

Hi All,
‘21 unlimited Sahara 4xe with 22k miles.
In the past year it’s been in the shop for a total of 58days with the same problems described in the thread- lurching especially when stopping. I went though the 3 steps others have said
1) Reprogram
Then
2) Valves
Then
3) New transmission
Have driven a couple hundred miles on the new Tran with the hope of an adaptive learn miracle.
No miracle. Still drives the exact same way, badly.
Jeep will not buy it back, outside the lemon law window.
Can anyone who has gone this far give me some advice?
45 emails with Jeep customer retention team… they just keep saying bring it back in.

That sucks. I'm no professional but have they mentioned maybe replacing the TCM? Not sure if that will do anything. Might be time to get a lawyer to light a fire. Mine just went in and they are going to replace the valve body . So I guess I'm in the process.

Axe that. I think the TCM is built into the valve body.

Mines always done that. It’s almost always in the morning leaving my neighborhood and some times randomly. Sometimes it’s way harder than others. I have reason to believe that it’s temperature related but, can’t prove that.
I had the same issue, thought the same thing, even got the trans fluid serviced, but it didn't fix the problem. It's a bad transmission and now waiting for replacement.

Had my valve body replaced two weeks ago. It was great for about two days. It's starting to shift bad again. I guess it's gonna go back again. What a PITA.

Update: Got my transmission replaced. It took 3 weeks for them to get one and then get it installed. The dealer was great to deal with. I just got it back yesterday and it changes gears better, but there is still a little bump between 3-4 gear at low speeds. It does shift 100 times better though. I am beginning to think this just must be what it is supposed to be like. For now, I am going to drive it for a bit and see what happens. The Jeep now has about 800 miles on it, about 150 on the new transmission.

Waiting to hear back from the dealer when to bring mine in. They opened a star case and were told to check the valve body with an air pressure test.

Our 2024 has this issue it seems. I’ve put about 900 miles on it so far. At light throttle/acceleration, 3rd to 4th is intermittently rough, feels like it slams into gear much rougher than any other shift.. When coasting to a stop, 5th to 4th is intermittently rough, same feeling. Under any higher throttle, say more than 25%, shifts perfectly. Full throttle is perfect. Cold, hot, doesn’t seem to matter. However, in central Florida during summer, oil temps aren’t very cold and climb very quickly.

I loathe the idea of going to a dealer. I don't let them change the oil, that’s how little trust I have with them. This thing may force my hand though.
