Automatic transmission not shifting

Anyone ever had this problem?

Coming back from the beach last week, stopped for gas, and all of a sudden the transmission wouldn't shift out of gear (I think 3rd). RPMs shot to the top, electric power (4xe) the same.

I stopped at an exit and got off the highway. After letting it sit and after a couple of restarts, it worked fine the rest of the way home, and not a problem since. I learned that you can't check the transmission fluid level on the contraption.

The dealer service department (25k miles) couldn't find any codes triggered. It'll be weeks before they can do a diagnostic service, and only Heaven knows how long they will keep it. I don't have any confidence they even know what to check. I can't find much information on the net about this kind of problem.

Anyone else seen this before? I'm not even sure I want to let anyone have at it unless it does it again, but I also don't want to be stranded miles away from home again if it does.

Nope. First thing I checked. Also, it did it once after I shut it down and restarted it.

I’m having this same problem right now! Any updates or anything you can suggest @RandyMc ? I’m on a long cross country trip.

No, sorry. It hasn't replicated and threw no codes. Dealer & shop couldn't find a problem. After turning it off and letting it sit for a few minutes a couple of times, it's done fine ever since.

For what it's worth, I hope you get some help here but I doubt it. I'm sure you didn't put it into manual mode without realizing it.
