Northridge 4x4 regeared my Sahara to 4.88 last March: I dropped off the Jeep at 9am and picked it up at 3pm all ready to go. It had already been reprogrammed and road tested.Do shops who are charging much less labour really know what they are doing in regard to re gears?
A shop that claims they are regear kings tell me 12 hours labour
How do you like the 4.88s?Northridge 4x4 regeared my Sahara to 4.88 last March: I dropped off the Jeep at 9am and picked it up at 3pm all ready to go. It had already been reprogrammed and road tested.
They had pre-ordered all the parts over the prior weeks and were ready to go when I showed up.
I paid $1800ish 2 years ago when I regeared my JK with @Northridge4x4. Sadly they closed the Denver location during the pandemic. I still use them for parts, but not service on things like that. It did not take them 12 hours to mine.Northridge 4x4 regeared my Sahara to 4.88 last March: I dropped off the Jeep at 9am and picked it up at 3pm all ready to go. Kicks ass from a standing stop and around town; feels very good in 4-Lo. The automatic downshifts right away and with confidence when passing on two-lane roads. How do you like the 4.88s?
I’m on 3.45s and did a trip going mostly 75-80mph and was mostly hitting 12-13mpg so you’re doing much better than me lol.Kicks ass from a standing stop and around town; feels very good in 4-Lo. The automatic downshifts right away and with confidence when passing on two-lane roads.
On the other hand, the Jeep feels a little “overgeared” on the freeway: my fuel economy drops precipitously above 65 MPH to 15 MPG.
Overall I like it a lot!
Yes, that's what I used to get before regearing!I’m on 3.45s and did a trip going mostly 75-80mph and was mostly hitting 12-13mpg so you’re doing much better than me lol.
35s?I’m on 3.45s and did a trip going mostly 75-80mph and was mostly hitting 12-13mpg so you’re doing much better than me lol.
When you say it feels over geared are you referring to the MPG or does it feel like the jeep needs another gear on the highway and the RPMs are too high?Yes, that's what I used to get before regearing!
And the automatic refused to shift past 6th speed.
The sweet spot for 35s appears to be 4.56. But I ain't complaining.
My fuel mileage is terrible right now on the 3.45s with 315/70 tires. I looked this morning and it’s 17L/100km averageI’m on 3.45s and did a trip going mostly 75-80mph and was mostly hitting 12-13mpg so you’re doing much better than me lol.
Totally understandable. I drove around a few months with 35s and 3.45s while waiting for parts to show-up for my regear to 4.56 and I remember the feeling of that set-up. I had a flash back towards the end of the summer, where I relived exactly that same feeling of 35s on 3.45s. I was towing a trailer with a one ton load of river rocks. No kidding!I’m on 3.45s and did a trip going mostly 75-80mph and was mostly hitting 12-13mpg so you’re doing much better than me lol.
Yeah I’m not putting any money into these axles, saving up to change out to rubicon axles and I’ll regear then if I can’t just get the 4.56/4.88 housings and gears and throw some shafts in.Totally understandable. ExcellentThe MPG.
The Jeep sustains speeds without issue and the automatic transmission uses the full range of speeds.
