FWIW, I went from the factory 4.10s to 4.88s in my JLUR a couple months ago. The upside is that it's fun to drive again, the downside is that my MPG went down by about 1MPG.

Figured I'd chime in here. I just changed the stock 3.45 to 4.10 (manual trans, 2 door,3.6, 33" BFGs) On 33's, I think the 4.10s are great on road. I can actually use 5th and 6th now. Still in break in period, so I haven't had it off road yet. If I wanted to go with 35's tho, I'd opt for the 4.56 or 4.88.

Ill try to make it straight and quick

I have a willy’s with 35s and the gearing is very bad, it’s not a pleasure to drive anymore

Thinking of trading it in the spring, are the 4.10s really that much better?

i live at about 800ft
I haven’t read anything but your first post. I have a 19 2-dr Rubicon, manual transmission, no lift just 35’s. Runs great, off road, city streets, hiways doing 75-80. The 4.10’s work for me, I’ve pulled a trailer that I’m pretty sure was over my towing capacity 6 hours one way for vacation. I had to go down to 4th gear on some big hills, but was always able to keep up with traffic.
So under load, or flying free they always handled it. When I go to 37’s, I don’t know yet what I’m going to do. Hope this helps in some way.

Which engine?

It’s likely that our 2 doors do a little better with taller gearing too

My jeep also has 3 inches lift with steel bumper and winch

Thanks for sharing your experience

I'd shop around. Much cheaper to source gears yourself as well. Northridge has packages on sale. Only downside is shop won't warranty the parts.

Take a look at revolution gears. I like them better than Yukon.

I have 3.6, 8spd, 35's with 5:13's - I pull a small camp trailer. and I get to use 8th gear a lot. around town I get 19.5-20 mpg. Accelerations is great.

it makes sense that a lower gear set gets better mileage around town, because the engine isn’t chugging to pull those tires around, like the XR on 4.56s guys are getting bad mileage i’m hearing

I’d rather opt for 4.88s over 4.56s on 35s for sake of more power and easy pulling those tires around town limits

Do you have RSV's? What lift? Any rubbing at full flex?

Me JL 2.5 Inch Adventure System - TT+ RK rear uppers and 37x13.5 KM3 on stock wheels and 1.75" spacers. The 37" KM3's are really nominal 36's - actual 35 13/16" So on BF I ordered beadlocks and NITTO TRAIL GRAPPLER M/T 38X13.50R17LT which are about 2" taller and 1.5" wider than the 37 KM3s. I'll put the ARTEC INDUSTRIES FRONT INNER FENDERS - SOLID in the front and remove rear inner liners.

After spending the last year arguing with @kah.mun.rah that 37" is the absolute max on JLR stock (@kah.mun.rah run's 40's), I'm going to 38;s without RSVs.

I'm wondering if this is the straw upgrade that breaks the camels axles shafts.

I would stay where you are now with the 285/70s.

I had 285/75s(34s) toyo at3s on mine for a short time and it was pretty crappy with 3.45s. Granted i have a v6, the 2.0 is suppose to be much better
Agreed. I'm running the same tires and geared to 4.56 Its a much better combination.

What's an RSV? :angel:Teraflex CT2 short arm setup, added the .5" leveling kit for 3" lift total. I was running 37x12.50s and the Teraflex ST1 spacer lift for a while and it barely rubbed in the back before chopping off that stupid piece of plastic in the rear fender liners. 38x12.50 Ridge Grapplers went on about two weeks ago, CT2 went on last week, haven't been out to play yet but I doubt it'll rub.

3.6 and stubby steel front and aluminum rear bumpers. I’ve also got full RH aluminum skids under it, from oil pan to the rear axle is basically a solid sheet of metal.
